Drew Estate has launched the Dirty Rat as part of the regular production of a new line, Unico Serie, under which all of the company’s unique cigars will fall. Contrary to what many have believed, the Dirty Rat doesn’t share a blend with either the No. 9 or the T-52. It will be sold in boxes of 12 at an MSRP of $12 per stick. Steve Saka, president of Drew Estate, said the “Dirty Rat isn’t a limited release, it’s just a pain in the ass to make.” Drew Estate will also be adding a Belicoso and a Corona Doble to the T-52 line, as well as a 3,000-box run of the T-52 Flying Pig.

I found this from the StogieGuys website.

Corrrect...it will be a regular production cigar (or as regular as it can be, considering the time it takes to roll them)...

Great stick :)

Yes it will be a regular production cigar. Saka didn't give any indication about a number of cigars available each year but did say that as long as people were buying them it would be regular production. He said he remains skeptical that people will want to spend $12 on a corona.

I was lucky enough to try a Dirty Rat last year when Steve was at a b&m promoting the T-52 release. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also have to admit I was initially attracted to the Flying Pig because of it's shape but after smoking one the flavor was amazing as well.

Also i think there will be 3,000 boxes of the t 52 flying pig. Which i believe is More than the original flying pig. Also if the final production dirty rats taste anything like the pre releases than i will buy them all day long at $12.

Pa,
The pig tail is what makes the dirty rat so hard to make and in turn so expensive???

Is there any other vitolas of this blend?(I don't think there is)

Taken from a brother (TG) from another board who knows as much about Liga Privada as anyone I know......

"Per Jon, it uses the T-52 capa (wrapper).

Production is difficult and slow, very few rolling teams are qualified to make them. Most coronas use only 2 filler leaves and maybe a tear from a thrid. This cigar has five. As far as anyone knows, it’s the only corona to ever use seven different tobaccos (I suppose you could use more than than that in a short filler cigar, but no one is aware of one that did regardless)."

I'd say that's about sums up the cost factor.
