When I joined BOTL almost a year ago I didn't really have a stash to speak of. I would always just venture down to the local "B&M" and pick up the few sticks I was going to smoke for whatever event I was headed to (be it golf, yard work, fishing, drinking, poker, etc.). Then I was given a vacuum jar which lead to this:

And through the course of reading posts on BOTL, it became this:

Then, through the generosity of another BOTL, I shed the jar and eventually reached this point:

Then I found sites like Cigar Bid, where I could get some deals on stuff that interested me and that my local "B&M" didn't carry. You can probably guess where this is heading :

There was a box on my front porch this afternoon...last weeks Cigar Bid spoils . But now I have a problem:

Well damn...I never thought I'd actually fill the humi, but I was sure worried it wouldn't close all the way. Good thing I'm firing off some stuff tomorrow .

Just a word of advice for the near future. After you buy a "end table" or similar sized humidor you might as well just go with a 150qt cooler for box storage and keep the singles and such in the "nice looking" humidor.

yes the slippery slope strikes again. I see a Coolidor in your near future and down the line a vinotemp. Happens to us all, you cant stop it only hope to contain it.

just buy a damn coollidor and get it over with!!!! you KNOW you're gonna need it!
*sigh* What I know I'm going to need and what I can convince the wife I'm going to need are two completely different things Bob :headroll:. At some point I'm going to have to get a coolidor though. Luckily thus far I've been able to stay away from box purchases. The day bills stop taking such a large chunk of my pay check will probably be the day I have to get something with more square footage.

Dan... head to Big Lots. I got a rectagular plastic container for $2, then, added a weatherstripping around the lid. Works better than my humi's even. SO, I have two full humi's, and that container full. Get the container, and I'll give you some of the weatherstripping!!

That's why you just get set yourself up with a coolidor and hide it in the closet. Forget all that pimp my vinotemp crap.
Nah, it's not always that easy. I have temperature issues in my house. It's old, and drafty, and I don't feel like paying $400 a month for the AC to run, when my Vinotemp was less than $100. Same story in our RV. Coolers are great, indeed. They still aren't for EVERYone, though. I like my cigars to keep a very uniform temperature.

The Slope......Ohhh you newbs have no idea :sadstare: beware!!!
It wouldn't be that bad if the FOGs didn't pour the soap and make the slope faster lol. Save up twice what you need for the vinotemp. The only way my wife let me buy the edgestar was to give her the same I spent in cash!

That's pretty good advice to people heading down the slope! Keep her happy, and things work a lot smoother! I've spent quite a bit of money at Coach stores...

I guess my jump wasn't as slow. I went from a 100ct desktop to a Tower. I just couldn't pass up the deal on the tower, at least I keep telling myself that lol
