From last week when I bought a box of #9 and t52, to today, prices have gone up more than $50. Box of lp9 toros from 175 to 230! And this is reflected on two different online vendors that I always found were the cheapest

Looks to me like an online discounter got busted by Drew Estates for selling Liga under what they are supposed to sell for. You have to sign a contract stating that you will hold price on Liga or they will pull the line.

Tim is right and can confirm that Drew Estates had a price increase either July 1st or August 1st but it did not include the Liga Privada Line of cigars.

I heard from my local B&M they was raising their prices. Maybe they knew what they was talking about. I hope not that would mean the already high priced cigars well be out of most peoples range. That could hurt Drew Estates if true I hope not.

Well that sucks I like most of JDN's they are priced right and good. Being on a college income with our daughter at home with 3 grand daughters also. I treat myself every now and then to a Liga. At least they did not go up. But JDN was good reasonable priced cigar.

MAP pricing dictates that items cannot be advertised at pricing lower than what the manufacturer assigns. Pick up the phone and call whatever shops you normally do business with.

Dunno where you were doing your shopping, but being that my herfin' buddy Skills is a bonafide, certified and solidified LP9 and T52 whore, the pricing hasn't jumped THAT much.

I know what he paid in Wilmington for a box. I know what he paid in Raleigh for a box. I know what the sticks in Charlotte cost, the sticks in Orlando, FL and Prattville, AL cost.

I get around, ya know?? I haven't seen a $50 jump ANYWHERE.

One site in particular that I had dealt that had great prices on the Liga told me that Drew was putting pressure to raise the online price. They told me that if the prices rise significantly to contact them directly (phone or email) to order to get the same old discount.

One other note is that it was a bit wet in Nicaragua and the supply of No. 9 tobacco is apparently not going to be great for the final portion of the year. I doubt that has anything to do with the price increase, more the crackdown on the Liga dealers, but still worth nothing.

I myself appreciate the crackdown, JD had always stated he didn't want Liga to become Opus, much rather have every retailer staying within a range than most retailers selling at double to triple MSRP.

but this was opposite of opus where a couple retailers were selling a lot lower than msrp. Must just be de regulating. I'll be sure to call these places in the future.
