Prayers and positive thoughts please...

for my wife. She has been a cigarette smoker for over 30 years and just recently went in for an abdominal CAT scan to check for a kidney stone and the doctor found something else. One of her lungs shows the early stage of emphysema. Her doctor has ordered her to quit smoking immediately - and she has - and I will no longer smoke cigars in or around the house.

The doctor is very positive that they caught this early and does not see any immediate concern - unless my wife should start smoking again. Please offer her the strength to kick the habit once and for all. We have been together nearly 20 years and I'm looking forward to many more.

Thank you all for the support. Just so you know, they cannot 'cure' the damage that is already done to her lung but the goal is to prevent any further damage in the near future. It was definitely a blessing finding this now or it could have gone undetected for years.

Thanx - as for the kidney stone, it is very small and not bothering my wife at all. For now, the doctor has advised to leave it alone until there is any discomfort. It could act up tomorrow or never, every case is different.

I wish you the best. My aunt has emphysema and she never quit smoking. Her doctor even told her she would be on oxygen if she didn't quit but it hasn't deterred her.

I used to smoke cigarettes and know hard it is to quit so congrats to your wife on quitting.
