Cracked open tis baby today and let me tell you, it hit me with spices from every corner. It was simply awesome. From the first draw to the nub, spices and coffee and hints of chocolate were prevalent. Like I said in another post DPG is quickly becoming my favorite cigar and I want to try every one he has made. Next up is the black label that is in my travel humidor.

One question, though...towards the end, I got the distinct flavor and aroma of ammonia. Is this normal?

i LOVE THEM bLUES, BUT FOR ME THE black Is BETTER. The ammonia may just be the tar build up in the nub, or you may be smoking too fast. it happens sometimes.

Could it be because i punched it? I know punching instead of cutting makes you accumulate tar and nic. I left my cutter at home and only have my punch. :crying::blush:

I need to start trying some of Pepin's cigars, I've never had one to my knowledge.

I used to like the punch, but i always get that tar build up on the edges of the punched hole. If you get that in you mouth it tastes horrible. you can always moisten the cap and nible it off, or use your thumbnail to lift the cap.
