So there is this amazing phenomenon going on out of Africa right now... Die Antwoord (Afrikaans for "The Answer"). They do what they can Zef Rap Rave...

Basically they have a really unique style of rap/dance/party music that is really intelligent, political, interesting, and fun... and unlike anything that is going on in the brainless money and hoes rap music in America these days. Here are a few videos:

And a video that combines their music with a kind of explanation of their world:

Oh, unfortunately, their delivery is in a mix of English, Afrikaans, Xhosa, and a few other African dialects. Knowing a little Afrikaans slang makes the listening more enjoyable, but certainly isn't necessary.

Oh I know there is a whole lot of decent rap here in America right now, but none of it is commercially viable unfortunately. As for "that thing" I assume you mean Leon Botha, who is an artist, and suffers from Progeria, which is a tragic genetic condition that causes rapid aging. He's the oldest living sufferer of Progeria, I think.

Whatever happened to funk? I'll take that over rap any day. Even named my cat Bootsy, for Booty Collins- bassist for James Brown & P-Funk.
