I just received 2 boxes of Boli PC's today, I opened the first box and noticed that about 1/2 the box had mold. Most of the mold is on the caps and none appears to have gotten to the foot. I contacted my vender to try to rectify the situation, hopefully i will hear back from them tomorrow. If I keep the cigars and wipe off the mold, how do I store the cigars that had the mold?? I got my humi set to 65% and about 65 degrees. Thankfully the second box had no mold.

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

As long as there is not a lot of mold this will work fine. If there is a lot of mold send them back. As for the freezing also have never heard of it. Also if you have a 60% to 65% humi a few weeks in that helps to make sure that mold won't spring back up

I used a dry microfiber cloth and wiped from the foot up so I didn't get any buggers on the inside. After that, when they went in the humi, the mold died and they were fine. Oh, and be sure to wipe out the box and let it air out for a day or so with the smokes taken out.

This ^^^. Done it quite a few times and never had any ill effects or flavors as long as there is no mold in the foot. A lot of vendors store their smokes too wet and mold occasionally happens. Get them nice and clean and dry box them for a week, then let them settle in your humi @ 65% RH for a month and they should be fine. I always keep a couple of spare, empty boxes around for this kind of thing. I usually throw away the original box after a mold episode and rebox the sticks, after they are thoroughly cleaned and dried.
Freezing is for beetles, not mold.

White mold on the head of a cigar will wipe off & not effect the taste of the cigar or your health. Blue, green or black mold is another story. I'd rather get a box with a little white mold than a nasty smelling musty box. Still, if these are fresh cigars & the thought of mold bothers you, send them back.
You are covered with good answers already. That being said, I've been in your EXACT situation before. Don't know about the vendor, but the same cigars. My vendor was happy to help me, but in hindsight and with more experience I would have just wiped the things off and kept them. No harm in dropping the vendor a line to let them know so they can check their stock, but so long as it's not made it into the cigar you should be fine.

I just had something similar happen to me as well! I ordered 3 different boxes, 2 of them arrived covered in mold, argh!! I contacted the place, and it took two days to get a response (but that might be the time difference here), but I was able to return the boxes for replacements.
Ironically, I'm FAR more likely to order from that place again (have, in fact) because of the good customer service. Mold (and breakage) happens--if they don't crack open the boxes to check, then they have no way of knowing. But a place that does a good job taking care of problems, that's a place I'll go back to!
And yea, a lot of place store their smokes way too wet. CigarsInternational/cbid/cigars.com is bad for this, I usually have to keep purchases from them for at least a month before I touch it.
