Well I'm glad I have VISA, but if I did have MC I sure as hell wouldn't have it much longer :angerFU:. I'm a grown adult, I work hard to make my money and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let my card issuer stop me from spending it how I want.

I hear ya and would do the same, but you are actually spending their money first and then paying them back. These whack jobs say it's more risk because I guess us cigar smokers are all crackheads that can't pay back a debt!?! LOL

Wow, my Citi credit card just switched from Visa to Mastercard today. In fact, I just got my new physical card in the mail today and activated it/signed it literally 10 minutes before reading this thread. :(

So you can buy guns and ammo and kill people but you can't buy cigars. What a Fu@@@@ up country your in. I'd dump mc at the first opportunity. I wonder if this is worldwide or just the Usa.

I've come to expect this kind of crap from the Gov't, but a company out for a profit?!?! This sucks, hope it doesn't effect the already struggling B&Ms as well ...

Unclear if it's affecting those that do out of state sales, but non-online sales. Some retailers I've spoken with are still saying they haven't had any problems. knock on wood.

Update from a retailer... Retailers will have to pay MasterCard a $1,000 fee, should be able to start orders again in 24-48 hours.

I doubt it, but if enough retailers told MC, thanks but no thanks (we will only take Visa, Discover, or Amex) they would change there plans.

I guess Mastercard doesnt like money that much, theres probably 10's of millions in CC fees from online tobacco sales annually.

Exactly I would switch out of principle and if I had IRA or other monies in said bank I would remove that as well. We don't have to take this sh*t! :angerFU:

As a retailer I can tell you I haven't had any problems here in the store. I will also say I don't have many people come through using MC, mostly Visa/AMEX. I would also very quickly tell MC to shove their $1000 fee somewhere they don't want it and not accept it. I would also post a listing as to why I no longer accept it to ensure my MC customers call to raise havoc with whatever poor guy has to take the call. In fact, I may call them myself, regardless of the fact that I don't carry a MC just because it is such BS.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the fee and the general BS is from your merchant processor, not MC themselves?
According to everything I've read about this, which admittedly isn't a LOT, it seems it is both MC and the processor. MC sent the direction to their processors that they would like to not process tobacco sales and some processors are complying while others are not. This could be WAY OFF, but that is what I interpreted.
