Verizon conspiracy....

So I have had my verizon phone for almost three years now. It's been a great problem free phone. It'd occasionally lock up on me when answering it from a locked keypad but other that that it was great. It took the years of abuse and so forth. However I think on sunday and monday it was not getting much service. I noticed today I had no service at all. I called customer service and I either have to take it in for a repair not under warranty or just get a new phone.

Coincidence? I like this phone and don't want to pay $150 for another ruggedized model.

Wait a second. It was in 2008 that I got the phone. In October RIGHT around this time of the month. I got out of the airforce on Oct 10th and signed up with verizon the following week. So I am at 2 years and like 7 days from getting the phone! Too coincidental for me to think it's bad luck.

My wife has been with them since like 2002 when she went to college and I just jumped on her plan. It's shady if you ask me.

yep shady is right. There's nothing in it for them to make phones that last a lifetime.

My iphone 3g sucks with the new software upgrade that was introduced right around the time the iphone 4 was introduced. Now I am thinking about dropping $200 bucks on a new iphone 4, because my 3g is just lags like hell. Coincidence? yea right.

Planned obsolescence. My Verizon phone is 2 years old as well. I did have one last 4 years before it croaked. I don't have a data plan or desire all the bells and whistles so I just get what evers free when I want to upgrade.

We stay with Verizon because my wife gets a corporate discount.

well, now... almost all verizon phones require an additional 30.00 dollar data plan whereas only 20-40% of their phones were capable of having a data plan a couple years back.

Thats how they get you, you ever notice how when I new phone comes out and you rush and get it regardless of price, then in a few weeks they offer buy one get one free.....then buy one get four.???

Actually it probably is just a coincidence. The cell companies don't amke thier money on the hardware. The money is made on the service. In many instances the companies actually take a loss on equipment. So probably not a conspiracy. If you want to get mad at them look into how much they make on text messages. Text messages take up ZERO bandwidth and they charge out the butt for them. They are all profit.

No the conspiracy for me isn't to get me to buy a new phone but to sign up for another guaranteed two years of service with a contract in order to get a phone discount.

I am with Verizon as well, and I am less than pleased with their service as of late....

The reason I've kept them is because of their coverage, but, quite frankly, I'm considering switching to Sprint once my contract is up in June......

They have raised all of their rates... AT&T is worse...
