In another thread I talked about wanting advice on building a deck. I had to take my sons car in because the service engine light was on, 1200.00 dollars later.....

So much for the deck.

It's a 2001 Tribute with 155k miles on it. I bought it for myself when it had less than 50k on it. Seems to need a grand or so reapairs every year. At least it's been paid for. EGR valve, heater hoses, brakes all around.

That really sucks, brother!

Maybe sometime soon, you can get a try at the deck, again. What is it that Lennon (I think) said... "Life is what happens when you are busy making plans."

I seem to have to remind myself of that quote, quite often!

I'd love to build a slightly raised deck in my back yard.

There are several trees there, and I'd rather build the deck around them so they will still get rain (through the deck) and survive....These trees save me literally thousands of dollars every summer as the shade shelters our home from the dry, 100+ heat here in the valley.

There's so much to do before the first piers can go into the ground....retaining wall, drain, water lines, electrical lines....The $$$ just keep adding up!!

One of the bad things is that it DOESN'T "need" a grand or so in repairs as much as it requires 4 or more hours of LABOR at $125/hr to "repair".

Don't worry about the deck...you really don't want to build a new deck with winter right around the corner - Spring is the best time...start saving up now!!

I looked at trading the dang thing but then I'd be in debt a bunch more if I got a car with warranty. Thankfully he starts a job this week so he'll be buying his own gas from here out.

Real life happens, and it sucks. We just had to drop over 3k in having a tree removed at a house we never even see! I had a lot of plans for that money, but I guess this is just how things roll. Now our RV is starting to give us her high mileage fits. Good thing we are a group of adults that has a good escape-cigars. Light one up and embrace what good things we have in life!

I just happen to have a good supply of smokes or I'd be really bummed, lol.
