I went by a local b&m yesterday that has a much touted cigar club and smoking room. Kinda underwhelmed at the size of the Humidor and the stock on hand but the prices weren't as high to me as online comments had stated. (many good cigars under 10.00)

Anyway

I bought a La Flor Dominica Cameroon Cabinet and had seat on the patio for a smoke. Place was busy, several people playing a bag toss game on the sidewalk and others on the patio having appetizers and drinks. What amazed me though is that several of them seem to be able to remember the name size and smoking experience of every cigar they ever had. (I couldn't remember the cigar I bought yesterday if I hadn't kept the band, lol)

Someday I guess I'll have the sizes down and what wrapper is what, but till then I'll just scratch my head and wonder "How do they do that?".

Nerds Flyboy, Nerds. I remember alot about the sticks I smoke, but overall it comes down to, I liked it! or I hated it! The in between aren't remembered very well.
x2. I can remember a lot if I really liked because I probably still have some or if I hated because I can remeber I dont want to spend for them. Other than that no detailed experiences to stick away for later.

I'm a nerd, all the way. I research, read reviews, compare prices, and oh yea, smoke them sometimes too, lol. Yep, nerd.

I'm a geek also, self proclaimed! But seriously I use the KISS principles and am always drawn to the ones I like... I will only smoke new stuff if a friend tells me a should. I do this because as many have stated it is my hard earned money and these are NOT cheap so therefore I smoke what I like and try new stuff because I respect my friends that enjoy this hobby also.

You're talking to a group of people so into cigar smoking that they participate in an internet forum about it. Whole bunch of geeks up in here. I know I'm not the only one with a detailed humidor inventory and smoking log.

As for sticking with what you like, I'm totally the other way. I want to try *everything* twice. Every so often I find something I love, and I stock up on it. Maybe I'll even go back and smoke some of that stash before my tastes change. Hope so, anyway. Like you said, these things are not cheap.
