Thanks to a great BOTL and a week of GRINDING at school and the clinic where I intern, and visiting my mom in the hospital, I decided to treat myself to a trip to Cuba. :stretchgr

I should have know something was going to run amiss when after I lighted the cigar the lights went out at my B&M! Is that an ominous sign, or what? There were five of us sitting in the dark, still talking about cigars and laughing. Customers were using flashlights to still buy smokes!

Well, this cigar was the most frustrating smoking experience I have ever had.

The cigar felt great and was obviously well kept. I got really great pre-light aromas and taste. earth, dry fruit, spice....I was excited.

I toast and fire and it lights immediately. The NOTHING...the thing is smoking but no draw, then a little draw and a little smoke, then nothing. Then I would get 5 minutes of the cc greatness. Rich complex smoke, a wonderful earthy spice, and maybe even some prune or cinnamon. I am not sure because just as I was being lifted up to cigar heaven PLUG! I mean, NOTHING!

The lights came on and I studied the end of the cigar I was drawing in and it seemed soft and pliable and without stems or anything I could identify as a possible obstruction.

This was so frustrating. Meanwhile, burn issues abound and this cigar, as FLEETINGLYgreat as it was, was becoming a handful. :lookaroun

I did NOT beat this cigar up trying to release the draw. I still didn't over puff because it was smoking and I didn't want to push it or smoke hot.

Is this typical? Any ideas on cause or repair?

It was so frustrating to have to leave more than almost 1/2 of this stick behind due to it just not drawing. I was so bummed! :cryloud:

No pics because the lights went out, sorry.

Sorry you had such a crappy experience. I haven't had the Epi1 but I've had the Epi2 and it was a great cigar.

Not sure that I can offer any explanation as to the cause of the plug, but perhaps it's time to invest in a draw tool? (pot preaching to the kettle here since I myself still don't have one yet :D)

Same as my previous friend, smoked several of the No. 2's with no problem, but have yet to experience a No. 1.

Haven't had this particular cigar but I did experience very similar symptons with a Cuaba Divino. I looked forward, with much anticipation, to smoking this little gem one Sunday evening when I was called out to work. It was a frikkin' battle just to draw enough smoke to taste, although if left alone, the foot smoked like a chimney!

I eventually found a toothpick in my truck and gave it a few probes until I could polish it off. I haven't ventured back to the little stick, since I had such a hard time with the first one. If you have others, I hope they smoke better for you!

I smoked an Epi 2 last week and some draw problems but it still was a tasty stick. The draw got worse as the end neared but was still soft and slightly spongey.

That would just piss me off to no end! Being able to smoke a cigar that can be difficult to get in the first place and then have problems like that...O-yea that would trip my trigger for sure. I feel your pain brother!!:argh:
