Why Can't I be a Lancero?
I can say I'm pretty confident Sam decided to leave.
Any clue on motives? He has a name for himself in the industry now so branching out on his own would probably be in his best interests.I can say I'm pretty confident Sam decided to leave.
I was beginning to think I was the only one, Ive never really found anything too special from Oliva. Good cigars yes, but nothing that really got me excited.I hope Sam moves on to greater things. I enjoyed the Cain Maduro. Although I'm not a Nub guy, I can totally respect the fact made that particular size a success. He was the most innovative thing for Oliva so far. Other than the Series V, I think Oliva is a pretty boring brand. You get what you pay for. The Cain at least had some bang for the buck.
Yeah, but he's a kook, so I didn't give him credit.Sounds like you heard that from someone........:dunno:
Part of this has to do with the fact that details are still being worked out.Saw the news on CA. I saw him on Tuesday night. I asked him what he is working on and he was uncharacteristically tight lipped. In the past he talked my ear off about future releases. There you go.
Everything that I've read from what has been posted so far indicates that the brands are staying with Oliva.I have a question for the Vets: Is this split similar to when Padilla left Peppin i.e. is he taking his blends and brands with him when he leaves the company? The reason I ask, is there is always a HUGE debate on the Peppin transfer and the quality of his new stuff, and I am wondering if we will see the same thing with Cain/Nub if they are no longer made under Oliva.
First off, Padilla left Pepin because of money, that's not Sam's case. Secondly, Oliva owns Cain and Nub, Sam's not taking anything with him other than his skills. Oliva has a new creative division, Studio Tobac, which will handle Cain, Nub and new limited releases (i.e. not the Serie V Maduro Especial) - more details on ST will be announced next week.I have a question for the Vets: Is this split similar to when Padilla left Peppin i.e. is he taking his blends and brands with him when he leaves the company? Maybe it will be ULTRA-limited, where he rolls each cigar, himself...Maybe he's going to start a boutique brand.... limited release, little/no employees, etc.
maybe he'll change his website and have himself on a throne on every page....Maybe it will be ULTRA-limited, where he rolls each cigar, himself...
:dunno:
