While these have "hackneyed attempt at capitalizing on Tatuaje's monster series success", they're actually getting pretty darn good reviews.

So has anyone tried one of these things yet?

Since you mentioned it, I searched for reviews on them, and I see them listed on Famous, and cigaradvisor (famous) and cigar auctioneer (famous). No objective reviews yet that I can find. Yet, anyway. Maybe not a rip off of the monster series, but definitely trying to capitalize on the edgy names like Tatuaje, Room 101, Illusione etc etc etc etc.

I'm thinking of picking up a 5'er just to try them out.

Hell, if it's a quality smoke at $85 a box...that's pretty cool, right?

Meh. It's a Rocky. I haven't had one yet, but I will take a shot in the dark on it and say "no thanks"

Yeah, I would take those reviews on Famous and CI with a grain of salt. I've seen some rave reviews on cigars I haven't cared for in the least and bad reviews on sticks I thought were excellent :dunno:. While everyone has their own tastes, it's hard to go by a review that simply says "this cigar sucks, don't buy it" or vice versa.

Agreed for sure.

I'm still interested enough, though, that I'd like to try a 5'er.

I think I will.

You should spend that money on a fiver of the Petit Cazadore Reserva's! Smoking one now, amazing short(er) smoke.

Bought a 5'er from Famous.

But it'll probably take forever to ship, because this is my second order with them, and the second time they've had trouble processing my credit card.

This is getting annoying.

The most famous of the CI reviews are the 90+ score for Nica Libre and the low score for Padron. What a joke.

I agree that CI and Famous are HORRIBLE at giving hyper-inflated reviews of their exclusive cigars, and often low reviews/ratings of widely esteemed cigars. I'm sure CI would give the Opus X a score of 86 if they carried them.

That being said, there are many CI exclusives that I really like, and I think the Man o' War Ruination deserves the 94 or whatever they gave it.

Yeah, every time I get a CI catalogue I chuckle a bit at how there are huge page-wide advertisements for 5 Vegas, LHC, etc.

Yet Tatuaje is like an afterthought in the middle of a page full of rejects.

My 5'er arrived today.

I gotta say, guys, these are beautiful looking sticks. The construction is perfect, the wrapper is thick and heavy with some nice tooth to it.

And they smell like cocoa butter.

I'm going to let them sit for a few days and smoke one on the weekend.

Sounds very promising...have read some reviews and others really like them and they even say they are good ROTT. Keeping my fingers crossed.
