I'm smoking a Chaveta robusto I picked up last week at Tower. Excellent cigar. Spice, nice nutty flavor. I'm wondering why I haven't heard anything about this one before. Anyone know more about this stick?

You mean these?

http://www.silocigars.com/cigars-chaveta-cigars-c-314_492.html

If that are them Kevin/Paul (Kevin owner of Chaveta/Paul the owner of Silo Cigars) blended them with the help of a well known cigar company if I am not mistaken. I can get you better info when I am in the store tomorrow.

For the price I think they are amazing cigars. Very well balanced and always nice to know the owner.

You probably haven't heard anything about it because there really doesn't seem to be any publicity on the cigar and I believe it just came out about a month so ago, and, there are only four retailers in the US that carry them.

First time I heard about the cigar was the middle of October when Mark posted on another forum that he had them in. I went up there (Tower) a few days later and tried them and I agree, nice smoke especially at the price.

Great prices on those, I may have to try them out. On a side note, I worked at a restaurant that uses that same font for their logo, funny.

Those are some very solid cigars. Silo is my local, and I always pick up one or two when I'm in there. It's one of the oily-est cigars I've ever seen, and very tasty.

K sounds good. I will get you a good history of the cigar when I head into the shop today. If you haven't tried one yet they are worth getting a fiver imho. For the price it is hard to beat it.

Straight from the man himself.

Wrapper: Brazilian Bahia Maduro
Binder: Dominican
Filler: Nicaraguan and Dominican

Medium to full body with pepper up front and transitions to a creamy flavor with some spice. These were blended in partnership with Pinar Del Rio.

Thanks for the posts and kind words guys. I have been working with Abe for about a year to get this cigar the way I wanted it. I was originally the majority owner of Silo Cigars when I first started working on it. After I sold my part of Silo I decided to start doing this and try another side of the business. The cigars have only been out a few months. Mark at Tower is a great person and has a great selection of Chaveta and other cigars. If you would like to try them I know he has them in 5 packs and boxes on his site. Funny story about the logo, I was drinking rum and smoking some samples and just drew it on a napkin and went with it. Any questions just ask.

I've smoked a few of these before they had a name. :) Very tasty.

Been waiting for these to be released things ever since. If you like the BOTL cigars or the Pinar del Rio Oscuros, you'll like these. They share the same sort of.... heavy... body... and the wrappers are simply amazing on these things.
