Doesn't matter. Customs will still levy all duties/taxes.even from an individual as opposed to a retailer? What if it's a "gift"?

Hi Big Mulac:Welcome to the BOTL.
I'm starting to travel more to Toronto. Do you know any good spots downtown for cigar and a drink?
Hey Jenks:Hi Big Mulac:
There is some research done on this but all the stops are outdoor patio places that are not appropriate now given our weather. I've heard Remy's is cigar-friendly as well as The Black Bull. You have to bring your own sticks to these places beacuse the price of sticks is high due to Cdn sin taxes so the demand for cigars is poor.
If you can give me a heads-up when you're coming to town I can do the research, make some phone-calls to confirm cigar-friendly establishments and let you know. Given the (recent) rise in Cdn premium whisky production and sales, if you are interested in picking something up besides the usual Canadian Club or Crown Royal, I might be able to find a location that sells it and get them to hold it for you. If the location is out of your way, I might be able to deliver it to you if you are staying reasonably close to downtown.
Well, in the last 3-4yrs there has been a big explosion of older Cdn whiskies as the producers have figured out there is a market for the older stuff. Stuff like...The Canadian whiskey (aside from Crown Royal and CC sounds interesting)
I'll check out the website and stay in touch regarding my trips. thanks againWell, in the last 3-4yrs there has been a big explosion of older Cdn whiskies as the producers have figured out there is a market for the older stuff. Stuff like...
- Wiser's 18yr @ $50: A hop, skip and a jump from Maker's Mark. One is a super soft bourbon and one is a soulful Cdn whisky.
- Danfield's 21yr @ $50: A soft blended whisky with significant rye influance.
- Crown Royal XR @ $180: The last of the Waterloo distillery stocks. VERY elegant and complex. Classy stuff.
- Forty-Creek Confederation Reserve @ $70: A limited edition release from Forty-Creek. The reviews have been good on this one. A one-off bottling.
My recommendation would be to read the reviews on www.canadianwhisky.org and decide based on those. Forty-Creek is a well-regarded distillery and this expression has garnered quite the buzz. If you are definatly coming to Toronto and want one of these I'd be willing to pick up a Confederation Reserve for you if it looks like they'll disappear and deliver it to you when you come for a visit.
