I am definitely gonna be on the lookout for all cigars criollo (tat black, la verite,etc.). This tobacco seems to be much more flavorful than ligero. Also, not as much of an ass kicker.

Criollo and Corojo are types of tobacco, different varieties of the same plant. Ligero refers to the section of the plant from which the leaves are taken, in this case the very top.

So on any given day a single leaf can be criollo and ligero at the same time.

I love both of these. The perfect blend. Tasty and power packed.

Yum. The cold is breaking, perhaps I need to go spark an Illusion just to see what it tastes like with Thera Flu.

Perhaps an interesting poll here: Do you smoke when you are under the weather and if you do, what is your beverage of choice?

That's what I thought.

x's 2 on the Cruzado. I recently finished up some OR Elitas that were phenomenal!

Back in the day, CAO Criollos and Alec Bradley Criollo '98's were also rather tasty.

Even if it is true that one can have criollo ligero, I like the statement made. He ventured to try something new and decided that it rocked his boat more than the usuals. Moro likes it. Not that the usuals are bad at all.

I still think the Broadleaf is better...Love the taste and feel. The Cojonu 03 is my absolute fav. As far as the Criollo...I like the combo blending of it, not a straight Criollo.

This is correct. Any given tobacco variety can have ligero leaves as long as they get sun.

But I agree with the OP that criollo is a tasty 'baccy. I wish manufacturers would do a better job of delineating (or deciding?) whether something is criollo, corojo, or habano ... it seems to me that some use the terms almost interchangeably.

Criollo and Corojo are both Habano. Habano seed just means that it is a seed of Cuban origin, which applies to both Corojo and Criollo.

A lot of Don Pepin Garcia cigars use a combination of Corojo and Criollo, he makes some great stuff.

CAO Criollo is great as well.
The CAO Criollo is a tasty cigar indeed. Had a few several years back and they were good. The lancero size was the last one I had. Nice toned down earth flavors if memory serves
