I'm looking for a computer that can hold graphics, big time. Next semester I'll be designing clothes/patterns through computer now, and I need to keep up.

I don't know if I should stick with mac or this time switch to windows. I prefer to stick with a laptop, that's for sure. Need to carry it around with me.

Can any of you guys help me?:inlove:

Definitely stick with the mac. Any windows PC I've ever used has never come close to a mac when I'm doing photoshop work.

I want a touch screen, preferably...

macbook pro with external hard drive? Sounds great, though, since I'm not the one who is gonna pay for it, I'm kinda screwed with my dads limits.

Yeah touch screen and affordable don't really go together. my brother and uncle both do some graphic design work and they use a graphics pad. What program will you be using, photoshop? or specific design program? Most graphic programs will bog down average computers and laptops so gonna be tough to find a laptop that can handle it and be affordable. Try to sell your dad that it's better to spend a little more now then have to purchase a replacement down the line. Ask around, maybe find an advanced student looking to upgrade and see if you can buy there old set-up.

I don't know how big a screen you need. But they just updated the macbook air to 4gs of RAM and Flash HD. It's small, light, and BECAUSE of those reasons, you WILL take it with you.

I bought a MBP and it stays home more than I thought.

As long as you are not doing complex imaging, as in engineering or architectural work, you are fine.

Oh, and the screen is gorgeous.

I just bought one of these. It's an awesome machine. Screen is unbelievable! But I wouldn't recommend it for any heavy photoshop or video editing. The processor just isn't up to the task. My work computer is the new MacBook Pro with the i7 CPU in it. Now that's a machine built to please! Just my 2 cents.

Well, I was talking a little while ago with some of my teachers and my conclusion is this: Loads of photoshop and drawing. My brother pointed me to an HP Envy, he's convinced that it will work wonders for me and my dad? he'll have to put up with the price, I never ask anything from him.
