Today is December 7th if this means nothing to you then you really should read a book, It is the day the America was brought into ww2, this was our grand parents 9/11 and this day still deserves a moment of silence for the men still buried in the steel hulls of the ships in Pearl Harbor.
"And we promise to remember, the 7th of December... We're the Seabees of the Navy, Bees of the seven seas!"

Its crazy to visit because oil still seeps out of the Arizona's tanks. If you ever get a chance to visit, dont pass it up.

I was actually disappointed I didn't find a Pearl Harbor thread. Started my own.

Sad how things important things like this get forgotten. makes me wonder if in 70 yrs Sept. 11 will just be another day.
Sadly that's what happens with time. As the generation that experienced it dies off, the generations that follow do not share the memory of the event. It just becomes another day in a text book.

Too many American's have a bad habit of forgetting the events that helped shape this nation. We owe it to the men and women who on that quiet Sunday morning in Pearl Harbor found themselves on the front lines to remember them.

Put the flag out at half mast first thing this morning. "A day that will live in infamy".

Putting a more personal touch to this;

My good friend's grandfather was Admiral Kimmel. The commander of Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. Admiral Kimmel along with General Short were both held responsible for "allowing" Pearl Harbor to be attacked. This has been proven to be a HUGE injustice and needs to be corrected.

In 2006, I flew to Pearl Harbor with Manning Kimmel, the admirals grandson. A pilgrimage of sorts for him, as he had never been there. I was honored to stand beside him as we toured the memorials.

Say a prayer for those lost souls.

A true patriot cannot forget this day. We must always remember what happened and those who lost thier lives. We cannot forget the past else we are doomed to repeat it.

My wife and I had a moment of silence and prayer today for those who were there and their families. We as a nation must never forget what happened that day.
