He did the time but I think he forfeited the right to own animals for the rest of his life. What Vick did to those dogs was so awful that we cannot put him in a position where something like that can happen again. It would be like letting a sexual predator teach elementary school.

IIRC he wasn't directly involved in the fighting of the dogs, he was just financial backing for it.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong though. :dunno:

sure let him have a dog. he screws up again and send him back for another 5+ years. i'd put my money on him not doing dog fighting again... at least not while he's still in the nfl lol. afterwards, well, maybe.

as the article says, he funded the dog-fighting ring. So, whether I care or not does not matter. Oh well, you made poor choices, now live it it.

I've read elsewhere that there are people like Vick that never had a chance to experience dogs as a pet/friend. Where and how they are brought up they are taught to do just what he did. I personally think he did his time and so far has seemed genuinely sorry. To me my dog, along with dogs I've had in the past, means the world to me, if he has never had the chance to experience what kind of relationship you can actually establish with a pet I don't see a problem with it.

He wants a dog, so he can kick it when no one is looking.

Great football player, lousy human being. He is a monster.

He is my fantasy football QB. That dog killing SOB sure has scored me some points.

No trust in the ability of someone to change, Michael?

Good for him.
I'm a total believer in redemption and recovery and new identity, which at the highest form is with/through Jesus Christ.
He may or may not be achieving that, hard to say since I don't know him or his heart personally, but it seems he is on his way.
Regarding his comment(I can't see the vid), as far as I know he has openly pursued great council and guidance. I hope that continues. And he can do things, like own a dog with accountability and help.

Do some research into dog fighting as an industry. It is exceptionally cruel. And I do not believe for a moment he was not present.

By financing it, he makes it possible for everything involved in this criminal industry to continue. I take nothing away from him as an athlete, but do not let him have access to an animal again.

From what I've read he was involved in killing the dogs as well as financing it. I remember an article stating that he participated in the drowning of dogs that didn't make the cut.

I am of the camp that says he should never be allowed near a dog let alone own one.

I believe he also admitted to killing one dog by smashing its skull against the pavement. I would not want to see him near animals again. But unfortunately it's not my decision to make.

He did his time and is back in the NFL. Not a good role model, paid the price for his actions, but no, I wouldn't want him to be a pet owner again.

Nope. He agreed to never owning a pet again. He needs to stand by his promise. As far as his kids not having a pet because of his actions, he should of thought of that beforehand. I can't judge whether or not he turned his life around or if he's a decent human being at this point, but he made a deal and should stick to it.

I am really surprised by all the no way votes.

If one of you got into an accident while driving under the influence, and killed someone in the accident, and lost your driving privileges, would you want them back? If so, I bet your view of redemption would change quickly.

And before anyone says, him killing the dogs was not an accident, neither is drinking and driving, it is a mistake not an accident.
