True, and he can appeal immediately after his probation is finished for decision that results in a non-conviction (in layman's terms, it's having your civil rights restored).
It's likely that he'll be able to vote again, not so sure on the firearm considering his conviction, because they were Federal charges, right?
Anyhow, I do not believe his right to own an animal can be taken away by a felony conviction. Unless of course it was part of the deal, which I believe only covers the duration of his probation.
