So, since I started smoking, I've pretty much just smoked what I liked and didn't really give too much thought as to country of origin and whatnot...but my last trip to a local B&M, the guy behind the counter looked at my selection and commented, "Ahh...somebody likes the Nicaraguans".

This got my curiosity going, so today I started doing research on all my favorite sticks, and sure as shit, almost everyone of them either contains, or is made primarily of Nicaraguan tobaccos.

Cool story eh? lol

Sorry, I just found it interesting. Time to start looking for other Nicaraguan sticks to add to my rotation!!!

Yep, geography and soil play a huge part in the taste/flavor of cigars. Cubans taste like Cubans, DR's taste like DR's and you can tell a good Nica for sure... Put some cigars in front of me blind and I'm not so sure I could tell you what one a DR is, but give me some Nica's and I could probably do well enough. Okay, maybe just the Tats!?! LOL

I don't enjoy anything other than Nicaraguans and Cubans. Besides the Opus and Anejo the Dominicans havent won me over.

I'm kind of the same. I prefer Nicaraguan's over Cuban's, and then Honduran's is next up. I don't care for Dominican cigars that much, though they do have a few gems in there!

I think its more climate over soil. Though good soil CAN be found naturally in different regions, good soil can also be made (and I don't mean by adding miracle grow!). The dirt around here looks like play box sand, really dry small and tan. Our garden though is thick, dark brown almost black, very moist. Our garden grows like crazy. I would LOVE to try growing my own tobacco in it some time. But we don't get the ideal weather and sun that they get down near the equator.
