Honestly I will give my opinion even though you won't care, and I understand. I would not take my family there. Its a war zone. Be safe bro!

As an American Tourist, traveling to another country, you have to be careful where you go and how you act. Several guys in my office just got back and said it's the same as it's always been.

We're in a Gated community, security gaurds, I'm not a mexican cop or a mexican Bad guy, I figure I am good to go. Last time we went the Cartel had just shot up the Sherrifs Motorcade. We had nothing but a good time.

Sleep with one ear open! It wouldn't be the same without you at the herf next year!!
It's just the errant rounds you gotta watch out for. Those bastages never seem to hit their target without throwing several hundred rounds down range.
They will go through gates, walls and roofs!

I have two vests if you want one. One is IIIA and the other is IV as long as the plates are in it. Not that you'll need em. Until I saw you topped this thread I was about to say holy bringing dead thread back!

I have a couple of vests too. They are both from the 90's and are out of style by now. I have some knit box end ties too.

Well the plans changed as the entire family wanted to join us, and we could not find a good house in Mexico for all of us. The whole purpose of going was to avoid family, and now we're all going. So We rented a house on the beach in San Diego. I'm hoping to catch Jeff on the 24th for a gar or two. I'll post a thread with pics and stuff when we get back

Sorry to hear you can't go. I have always been a border rat. Speak decent Spanish and always went with good friends who were fluent and Mexican. I grew up 3 hours from the border. I never would have thought about hesitating to go until recently. The sleepiest little shopping town that was our favorite is now a warzone. My wifes parents had to duck behind a lunch counter last time they were there as the cartels opened fire on the street they were on. This is no joke. Texas border towns are crazy now. No way I would head down.

yeah lots of characters on the Strand. We're binging bikes, and scooters, and skates, and lots of cigars and booze. We're hoping to create some memories of our own. As long as we escape with out handcuffs we're gonna have fun.
