I've been thinking about sticking some bands with nicer artwork on the top of my humidor. What do you all think would be the best way?

I was thinking possibly a clear coat, or lacquer to seal them to the top of my box. Would this tun the risk of soaking into the wood and tainting the box?

Thanks guys.

I did search, but nothing came up answering the question that I had regarding the smell seeping into the box. Nothing came up in the suggestions just before posting the thread, either.

Here's what I have:

Here's what I did with some bands and my travel humidor.

Used several layers of ModPodge (like Elmers) followed by layers of polyurethane varnish. I crisscrossed the varnish and did not sand the modpodge to get a textured feel to the box (as opposed to a smooth finish).

It'll be even easier for you putting these on wood instead of plastic.

More than likely, I would be putting them on one at a time, after smoking the stick since I just had this idea, and had not collected them in the past.

That looks great though.

Seems the post Dan listed and the advice hudaddy gave are definite steps in the right direction. I've talked to a few botls about decorating the top of a cigar caddy or humidor and regardless of the medium it always seems like it is a time consuming and delicate process.

Also, I think Mav_sd did something similar to this with a table so you may want to consider shooting him a pm to see if he can help.

I think you'll have better results if you just save up your bands and do it all at once. Give's you an incentive to smoke too .
