Happens every winter that eventually I'll start feeling "meh" about many of the things I enjoy doing. It'll pass. Thankfully it's cold out so it's not like I'm missing good opportunities to smoke when I get to feeling that way. Also since I'm not smoking as often when I do get to then I really get to enjoy it. Hope it turns around for ya real soon ciggy .

Everyone experiences this with their hobbies and pastimes once in a while.

Like many have said here, the fact that it's now winter could have a lot to do with it.

I, too, am having a hard time mustering up the desire to go sit outside in the cold for 2 hours. It's why I've been trying to pick sticks that I thought would give quicker smoking times.

I go through this same thing with movies and books - my two other passions. Sometimes I'll have a dry spell that lasts a few months, but then I'm right back at it full-speed.

I'm going to go a little different and say smoke less often but when you do make it count. I've been doing this over many months now and can't tell you how much more I've been enjoying just about all cigars I've smoked. Really sit back and try to pull out all the flavors. Start sipping all your cigars and let them last as long as possible. It's been helping me a ton. Just my 2 nickles!

Agreed.

Every time I smoke a cigar, I'm alone, with no distractions. I just sit outside and enjoy the cigar the same way I'd enjoy a good book. I try to identify all of the flavours, the texture - I try to really get to know the cigar.

I really try to put an emphasis on this as well, but sometimes it doesn't always work. Often if I review a cigar and I am wowed by it, I won't have an equally enjoyable experience revisiting that same cigar unless I set aside time to concentrate on that smoke and nothing else.

Solid advice J

I think I am getting there some days too.

It is also to cold out to enjoy a cigar so I find myself rushing to "try and relax" but I end up with a bad experence. I might be taking a break after the new year and super bowl.

It may be that you just need a few days or weeks off to get back in to the groove of things, but if you don't garner your interest back something like Seasonal Personality Disorder could be to blame.

I get moody and almost lethargic every winter around this time as the days become shorter so I addressed my doctor about the issue. He told me that Seasonal Personality Disorder (SPD) was likely to blame and that it is caused by the reduced rate at which the body metabolizes vitamin D during decreased exposure to the sun (exposure to a sun lamp a couple hours a day can fix this).

Ok, not to be a "know it all" but, mood disorders and personality disorders are completely different. I think you are referring to "Seasonal Affective Disorder," which is an AXIS 1 mood disorder (depression, anxiety, etc) as stated in the DSM-VI-TR. Personality Disorders are AXIS II and mood disorders are a rule out.

Don't scare the guy, personality disorders are among the hardest to treat and recover from. I know Ciggy well enough to say that despite being a top-notch "bastid," he is far from having a personality disorder. I think.... :scratchhe

Look at it as an opportunity. You get to save some money and put some age on your cigars. It'll pass Tom, let it run it's course, worse case scenario you quit altogether and move on to something else to obsess about.

Jeez. The cigar blues. I doan wanna smoke. I doan like the ones I smoke. I'm on my third cigar and they are all blah. Suck it up dude. Quit and move on with your life. Just leave your stash well regulated. You'll know when to go back and then you get to start over.

This usually happens to me in the summer. I get into cycling heavy when the weather stays above 30 here in Pittsburgh. I just lose the desire to smoke and chill.

The winter really brings out the appeal of relaxing and enjoying a good smoke.

I do have times of complacency with cigars when I smoke often. It seems that I burn out. I think smokes are best when allowed in moderation, but not a habit....leaves some excitement for the next cigar.

I also get bummed when I hit a spell of poor construction/inconsistency with a new batch or release from one of my favored makers. That one really gets me on a dry spell. Not a fan of let downs one after another.

It's not the cigar blues or the fact that I don't want to smoke...I do, and in fact can't wait. It's just when I do something's missing and I find I'm bored with it after awhile. Just wondering if it's me or if we all go through something like that. But I'll take your advice Chuck...and just suck it up...Thanks:wtf:

Thanks everyone for your take...much appreciated and it's nice to know it happens from time to time.

Just messing with you dude. Everyone goes through periods where the sticks just don't seem to work.
