Don Gabriel Custom Rolled

So I have the opportunity to buy some of the Don Gabriel Churchills from 05. I have never tried these or any custom rolled for that matter and I was wondering what your experiences with them have been. I couldn't find any reviews online so I was trying to see if I could get any opinions or info of the flavor profile on these...

If the price is right, just buy them. In my experience custom rolls tend to be pretty good and if they are relatively in expensive then its no real hurt to your wallet even if you don't fancy them.

I'd pass if I were you. I've heard many questionable things about these and he's proven himself to be shady numerous times throughout the years.

I'll say right up front I've never smoked one, but have heard many opinions on these, both good & bad. I would not be surprised if the tobacco quality & possibly even country of origin varies from batch to batch. Again, this is NOT from firsthand observation. Also, DG seems to badmouth other vendors which IMHO, is not kosher.

Perfect. I talked to the guy I was gonna buy from and he said they were very mild and dull. So that was an easy decision. Thanks guys

Yeah, the banded custom rolls I didn't care for (the robo anyways). I personally have never had a problem with DG.

Unless you like fakes, avoid this scumbag and anything he has a hand in. His customs aren't cuban and they suck.

The custom roll was horrible. It had to be Connecticut tobacco. It was so light.

His description does say "Cuban seed tobacco" which leads me to think they are not Cuban.

Never had an issue with him. I know some others have stated they did on a different site. The issue was not in reference to the quality of his product though. It was a business practice issue.

Everything I have received has been legit. I know people that have been doing this many years and have purchased from him. While they may have issue with his business practices his product was not inquestion. In fact I had boxes of D4s and Shorts from him and the most popular swiss vendor atleast on this board. Smoked sticks from both as a comparison. If his were fake then you all need to be very concearned about the swiss vendor. I am not concearned with the authenticity of his product. I find him no different then some other smaller vendors who can't always back up what they say in the end or takes on more then he can handle with some bigger players. My being a small fish may help my experience with him.

I remember emailing him about the custom rolls and he told me they were not cuban. I guess emailing a vendor can do a lot to clear up confusion.

Sorry for the long post. If someone has actually ordered from DG and can provide proof he sells fakes please post. I can only speak for the past year or so with him as I didn't use him before that. I can provide picks of the portugal regionals with seals and codes as welll as other boxes which can be checked against the above site from him.

Everything I have ordered from him has been legit. He is a good vendor in my opinion. The DG Custom roll, I got from a friend.

As I said everything I have gotten from him has been top notch. I asked him about the banded custom rolls because it says "cuban seed" and he told me they were not "cuban" just cuban seed as it states.

Charging for orders that are not in stock and not informing the buyer for months on end is scumbaggery in my opinion. Talking smack about other vendors and threatening to report them their pricing to the authorities in said vendors home country is even worse scumbaggery. In my opinion this is not the behavior of a good vendor. So many good vendors out there why waste time with ones like DG.

My post was more in reference to the person who stated he sold fakes. I have proof he doesn't. In my post I referenced what you are discussing. The behike incident. The same guys got a lot of product at great prices and took full advantage prior to the screw up. He did screw up though. That said I have yet to find anyone that did not receive their money or product in the end. I will say again he did screw up. He tried to take on more then he could. I think he entered the deal thinking he could. He overestimated his abilities. My understanding was he advised he was going to obtain the product and then couldn't get it. The pricing offered was good which was why people were willing to wait I thought. Then it was determined he couldn't get the product. Then the ensuing shit storm. Everyone loves a good dog pile on cigar boards. I have seen it on every board.

As I tend to only buy 3 boxes at a time of everyday stuff I dont have the issues. Thats why I mentioned that as well. So basically he sells legit product, packs well, has probably the best success rate of anyone, but can take on more then he can handle. When everyone else had packages snagged all his got through. Not a perfect vendor, by far, but I would use him before multiple other swiss vendors and some others.

My perspective is different I guess. I am aware of the facts, but have only had positive dealings. I have also built a relation with him and as a result have more trust. Everything he has told me has been true and or occurred

Why would anyone care about what forum his scumbaggery was outed on?

Over the past 6 years or so, he has pulled every scumbag move possible, INCLUDING passing off fakes.

There is good reason he is mocked, banned, and outed as a scumbag on virtually every forum among halfway experienced members.

And to be clear, he completely lied about his customs. He claimed that they were 100% CUBAN, that he had some super special connection to the growers in Cuba, and got the real deal. He LIED about it all, even when caught. Eventually he was shamed into admitting it. That is but one example of his scumbaggery.
