Haven't really ever felt the need to write about a vacuum but I have to tell you about the Dyson DC28 we just picked up. This thing really sucks. We up-graded from the original DC 07 which we had for over 6 years. I think using it for construction clean up at my house this summer finished it off. It died today and we always thought that was the greatest, until we upgraded today. The new one is practically self propelled it pulls so tight to the floor it drags itself a bit while picking up very fine particles and I think my carpet actually looks cleaner from vacuuming it if that's possible. It uses an actuator to pull it tight to the floor. So if anyone has been thinking about pulling the trigger on a $600+tax vacuum its worth it. Especially because you can get one on sale from Lowes right now for $479 with tax came to about $515. We have a dog, a cat and our daughter was just on a nebulizer for a week so getting the really fine pet dander and dirt you can't see out of the carpet makes it more worth it. Or if you have kids with allergies. Our other one probably would still work but with the abuse of the construction. Still over 6 years isn't bad. If you do buy it vacuum your house with the old one and then go over it with this you'll be impressed if not return it. Lowes and The Depot return anything. I bought a rotary hammer years back used it for a day wasn't impressed and returned it. That's what I told them too, wasn't impressed.

I apologize in advance for talking about a vacuum on a cigar forum and possibly sounding like a house wife.

My wife wants a Dyson. But I don't think I'll get her one until we get a house. The carpet in the apartment we rent isn't that great and we'll probably lose the deposit on it anyway. But we will probably get a Dyson when we do buy.

The vacuum we have now isn't that old, so I can't see a reason to upgrade just yet.

We have a Dyson also (the Pet Vac), and the best thing to clean up hair after 1 Dog (Border C) 1 long hair Black cat, and 1 very large Tabby cat. Yes this thing does the trick. It is almost embarrassing to see how much hair and dirt it cleans up , it is a good buy for the money......

Yeah....I've got a Dyson in my vault.

It sits and collects dust.

The other vacuums get used because the Dyson clogs repeatedly.

Guess what the Dyson CAN'T pick up?? Paper shredder residue

Clogs it EVERY time. And in my line of work? That's an everyday thing!

Ours work well. We have the slim one in the RV, and some normal size one in the house. She's a carpet freak so it's used every single day. A good buy, for sure.

Just checked the old one to make sure it was dead one last time. Fucking thing turned right on. It must have need to cool off for quite a while or something. I gave it a chance cool off and checked it before I left to get the new and it didn't work. Oh well this one does work that much better so were going to keep it. I'll use the old one for final job site clean ups.
