FYI... I emailed Drew directly and asked if the tobacco was 100% cuban tobacco grown in cuba and he replied yes it is.

Well I decided to take one for the team tonight. I am sitting outside with a damn space heater aimed at the balls to smoke my RFC which was not sourced from drew and has been in country for a year.
Wouldn't you know ash is white and Brooks notes hit my experience to a T as to profile. I had discussed the profile in the group members section before. It smells and tastes cuban. The sweetness is there. Its just a great cigar. Complex with layers. I dry boxed it for 2 days prior to smoking and its just great. I can post pics if anyone wants, but they look the same as Brooks.

I still have some and will be buying more. I think they are worth the 16.00 & better than many regionals and EL's I have had from bolivar and others. I think the box signed by the Robinas referencedby Jim helps legitimize the sticks as well. If they are a mix then they are a fantastic job.

Thanks for the review!

I pulled the trigger and ordered the Pinar Del Rio Sublimes from Mercer.

....Who can resist those pics?? Geez.

Review to follow shortly

And I wonder if Irene is as beautiful as she sounds.....

why would there be tax on these?
Are you really seeing tax, or just the "Tax" line? Like Clint says, no tax is added. IF you are going through the checkout process and tax shows up, then it looks like they are shipping from your state and they are charging you tax for some reason...

In a side note. I should finally be getting my handsome jimmy sweet 46 in the next day or two. Apparently the mexican postal system decided not to work the week before andd most of the week after christmas.

When I placed my order early last Tuesday they were already out of the Sweet 46's ... and from what i've been told (today, actually) they're out of the tobacco they used for those sweet 46's and won't be putting out any more unless they can secure some more of it. :(

Got a 5-er of the PDR Piramides and a Reynaldo Petit Cimmeron. :)

Mine arrived today (wife sent me a pic of the box) ... can't wait to get home and check them out! I've been giddy about this purchase for over a week now!!! :D

Smoked one today... I'll put up thoughts after I eat some food... damn I'm hungry.

I've avoided reading Brooks' review over the past week, I'll post thoughts and compare notes.

Dude I ordered mine december 13th. Frack damn near a month. I am hoping it was the holiday. Being in Cali its not exactly the furthest state from the border. I am glad to be getting the sweet 46.

After ordering the Piramids recently, this email came today from Mercer:

"Due to their enormous popularity, we are temporarily OOS on all Mercer PdR cigars. Fortunately, we are expecting to be able to ship these on January 14."

Got a fiver in today- loosely packed in a single ziplock & popcorn (came from much closer than I expected too) - they are quite dry & one is split on the foot (that one will have to be lit first after some settling in the humidor). I've been eyeing these since before the holidays - but I admit that Brooks' review tipped me over to the piramides. Can't wait to try it for myself!

Was looking at these when Don posted it on another board, but Brooks review pushed me over the edge (and a lot of other people). I was hoping I'd get a chance to reorder after trying one. Hopefully the next batch is the same.

Wow....Guess I got the last of the PDR's.
Should be here tomorrow or Saturday :)

Good we have someone to blame it on! :grinFU:

Not bad for someone unemployed. I hope I can still buy cigars if I ever get in that spot.

Brother, they are not the same. AZCigarNut had the best explanation, but there are numerous different types of "farm" cigars that come from Vegas Robaina. The ones being discussed here were made strictly for Mercer (what is being told anyway) which can be a totally different blend, tobacco, crop etc. I imagine there could be a lot of similarities, but definitely not the same cigar.

It's just like saying you have a Tatuaje Brown Label and are trying to compare it to a Tatuaje Red Label. Same company/Marca etc, but different blend/cigar.
