Ok, I need some help. Have the possibility of picking up the frig. below. It has a compressor. That doesn't work. Would pulling out all the compressor guts and setting it up with some beads, and fans make a suitable humi for the cold north? Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

I think it would work just as well as a cooler except for the possible gaps due to compressor removal. If its free, try it out, if not, take your money and go to walmart for a large (100-120 qt) cooler.

Living up north you probably do NOT need the cooling of the fridge. Depending on the size beads and small fans would work. Might need a cigar oasis active RH system tho, depends on the size fridge and also how much empty space you have.

Looks like a false alarm. Turns out the Unit is about 5 inches to tall to fit in the space I have available. Thanks for the input.

Wasn't going to be free, $25. Figure that would be cheaper than the cooler.

ha, isn't that what it is supposed to do :)
No, It's not... it's supposed to provide a precise amount of humidity... the unit allows humidity to escape into the humidor weather you want it or not!
