The birds are just messing with us, its just a big feathery conspiracy to scare the humans. Birds are a-holes like that. As for the fish, they probably just drowned or something.

I blame Sarah Palin and her fear mongering and hate and evil and all the other bad things she does, is, and stands for. Clearly she summoned some other animals to slaughter those birds, and is now blaming it on the "liberals."

I keed, I keed.

But seriously, SOMETHING must cause things like that. I think the shifting of the magnetic north pole is the most likely random guess. It shifts from 40-50 feet a year (towards Russia ... and old Commie experiment gone wrong), and perhaps the birds just get so mixed up that they fly into each other or other objects (houses, etc.) or just keep flying until they die of exhaustion.

What I found total BS was that there was a huge bird die-off a couple weeks ago and the reporter said the most likely scenario was that they were in a frenzy over New Year's fireworks and ran into houses, etc. I find that nearly impossible to believe, because if fireworks freaked out birds enough to kill them like that on a massive scale, we would hear about it for like 3 weeks straight in July while we shoved our driveways free of bird carcasses (and likely fireworks would be outlawed everywhere in the US).

Fish are sensitive to water temperature. If the temp changes drastically and they do not have the chance to get to warmer or colder waters, they die. Schools of fish die this way. A small example of this is when you have a tropical fish tank and your heater goes out. You wake up to find a bunch of floaters in your tank. That's why I have goldfish. Not as flashy but a lot tougher.

I think the birds and fish are trying to fly and swim away from Canada as fast as they can as they realize it is Gibbleguts Bday on 01/27/2011. They are trying to avoid the devastation that will happen and in the process are getting spooked and having cardiac arrests.

I ditto that plus add that flash frozen birds don't flap their wings too good. Remember those winds we had back there a couple of weeks ago? Never know where they'll turn up. Add that to some pretty snappy low temps and... life just isn't fair sometimes.
