I started dipping when I was 16 up until 18, then quite. No real issues after quiting except the normal withdrawls.

I picked up the habit again when I was 22 and dipped for about 10 years. While dipping, I only got sick (flu, cold etc...) maybe twice a year. Usually during the season changes.

I quite dipping at the begining of November. No real reason too, just decided it was time.

Since then, I've been sick a total of 7 times!!!!! Yep, at least once every other week ,I 'll come down with a cold, a fever, sore throat or something!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

I freaking hate being sick!!

I may pick up dipping again just so I don't get sick anymore!!! LOL! :stretchgr

Rant off.

I started when I was 13 or 14. Have tried to quit once or twice. Always seem to start back. Never had the issues you did, but my co-worker quit last year, and had similar issues as you. He has since started again, but I have noticed he still seems to get sick more then I remembered he did before. I would bet there is no link, but I am far from a DR so what do I know.

At least I am not the only one that has an inclining for a pinch still. I started dipping around 17 and quit when I was 21. My girlfriend at the time and now wife sort of forced me to quit the habit.

I have ever since though had a tough time every spring when fishing season comes around; I am always jonesing for a chew. I though seemed to have the opposite, I was always getting colds and the flu. When I quit I seemed to be healthy a lot more, I think I have been to the doctor twice in the past 4 year. I believe being sick for me though was due to being at college.

started when I was in 7th grade while traveling with the hockey team...I saw the coach putting one in and I asked my dad if I could try one (of course the coach is your idol at this time), my dad chuckled and said sure...minuets later on the bus I was puking my brains out and remember my dad saying "that probably taught him a lesson".

Well, I continued to dip throughout high school, and then in the Marine Corps I was up to about a can a day of Cope. I used to put in a lipper and run the new boots into the ground just for a shock value.

Well, like keinreis, it has been on and off for quite some time and finally "quit for good" last August....only time will tell.

Best of luck, but I don't think the dipping, or lack of, is causing the sickness; only coincidence.

I need to stop, but it's nice to have when I'm working.
That was the hardest part was when I was at work. I keep saying I am going to quit, but quite honestly I enjoy it. If there was no possible health issues that could be caused by it, I would never quit. Last time I quit I was dipping some fake stuff I ordered online. It was decent as far as flavor, and helped a lot, but the problem was you had to order it, and the shipping was not quick. When I ran out once and was waiting to be shipped more, I was on a 3 hour drive and caved and stopped at a store and picked up a can.

hardest times for me are when I am working late on the computer, I need something to do to keep me awake. Long car rides, to give me something to do to keep awake. After a night of beer and football to put in, instead of having another beer. Or when I am in the field with the military, very tough not to put one in here...

It would be a big mistake in quitting if you give even just a little bit of imagination that the two correlate.

I'm pretty sure not dipping anymore has nothing to do with me getting sick. I just think it's a hell of a coincidence to not be mentioned. LOL!!

That and I really miss dipping, especially at work.

I never understood how someone got into the habit of dipping. Not that nicotine is not addictive, but dipping, the first time is not a cool experience. I tried it once, puked and never looked back. Tobacco all over my mouth, a sick stomach, spit everywhere. Yeah just not sure how someone says, heck yeah, I'ma do that again.

I used Copenhagen for 6 months in Houston while in the 10 grade. Moved back to DC never did it again. I could never get over the fact these guys swallowed one to two cans a day while in class:barf:
