Sam Adams Winter Ale and Sam Adams Double Bock. I am on this weird Beer drinking binge... I'd never much paired cigars with it and now it is becoming an obsession.

Ok so I took your advice fellas I went to the local 6 pack shack and did A blind grab of 6 brews that I have never tasted or thought about trying. So here is the proof and I guess thanks is in order??? I was tired of seeing all the unique blends you all were throwing back so here's what I got -

Steelhead - extra pal ale
Lowenbrau - original
Magic Hat - not quite pale ale
Flying Fish - Belgian style Dubbel
Samuel Adams - Noble pils
Shipyard - Prelude special ale

not sure what I got myself into!!

Mike (Mthurley) shared one from my BB R.I.S. wish list, The Abyss from Deshutes Brewery. A big thank you to Mike for that one, it was excellent. We followed it with some Bourbon County Coffee from Goose Island, the long accented coffee finish was gone from when it was first released but none the less was delicious. A great stout night for sure. Looking forward to the BCS vertical session.

The hell with waiting for the weekend, if you are a Stout drinker you gotta try Brooklyn Brewery's Black Chocolate Stout!

Stuck in Fort Carson, Colorado for another week and a half. :( no alcohol allowed on TDY. The Army really has a way with sucking all the fun out of things.
Is it a pre-deployment TDY? I've heard of really big TDYs like support for G8 Summit and or Presidential Inaugurations being put on G.O. 1 guidelines.

Colorado is a great place to be when you can drink beer.

enjoying a couple ounces of Balvenie DoubleWood... a go to single malt indeed. nice to visit when you have a fresh palatte, as there are a lot of nuanced notes that can be overpowered by the youth of the dram if you're not paying attention. sherry, honey, vanilla, caramel... a great speyside for sure!

I have some in my cabinet, good stuff. That used to be my favorite scotch but I've switched over to the Glenfiddich 15 yr now, love that stuff.

One of my buddies poured me some Cognac. It has a nice apple nose with smooth flavor highlighted with the same apple. Surprisingly good, Landy's VS only something like 25 bones to boot. For me as I usually don't enjoy Cognac's though the pricey yaq my buddy pours me at his house is usually a treat, Remy XO.
