Hi Everybody!

Being a newbie to the joys of quality cigars, I am trying to determine the best way to store my sticks until I am able to afford a humidor. I only keep 5 to 10 sticks on hand at a time since my budget is small. I have a 5 finger ziplock pack that I am keeping them in and a simple paste board cigar box but my sticks tend to dry out and I'm looking for advice on how to maintain the quality of them without a humi. Anyone have any good advice on containers or methods of storage that will keep my sticks properly?

Thanks & Long Ashes!

Buy a suitable size Tupperware (or similar) container. Insert a sheet of the Spanish cedar that comes in many cigar boxes to separate the layers or that most cigar boxes are made of. Insert a Boveda pack. Insert cigars. Check the Boveda pack from time to time. If it starts to feel hard, take it out, put it in a ziplok bag with some distilled water for a little while to rehydrate. Then dry it off and stick it back in the Tupperdor.

Hygrometer or you will never know what the rh is. Then yes, a Boveda pack or get some cigar beads. Yes, tupperware of most B&M have cigar boxes for sale for $2 to $5. Find one that seals well and is Spanish cedar.

I agree that an accurate digital hygrometer is a good idea, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary, especially for somebody just starting out with a single Tupperdor. Bovedas come in your choice of several RH's, and as long as they are soft, they are generally reliable at maintaining their marked RH. YMMV.
