Before the memories of 2010 fade away, thought I'd ask what your best and/or worst cigar-related experience for the year was, as well as the one missed opportunity that you wish you could get back and/or get done soon.

In my case, the best was getting registered on here. Experiencing the camaraderie, learning 'bout & getting access to great smokes, and e-meeting great folk from all over : there ain't nothing like BOTL!
:thumbsup::clap::tiphat::1st::welcome:

The worst was opening a package of well-researched, hard-earned, eagerly awaited htf's, only to see 'em all busted up from lousy packaging. :angryteet :tongueout

The one that got away definitely had to be tim's customized cigar safari. Dang nic visa red tape here in the tropics. Gonna have to wait til I can figure out how to resolve. :wtf::argh::cryloud:

Please share your 2010 cigar and cigar-related triumphs & travails!

Nice thread. For me, the best was being able to get the BOTL cigar. The worst was a cigar I was given to review (will remain unnamed), the taste still haunts my dreams... Tied for worst and the one that got away is The Face. I had more important things come up, so I had to spend the $$ I saved for the Face and missed out on that.

Well the best cigar related moment for me was the Drew Estates event at Outlaw in Kansas City. Kick ass party . Look forward to attending a few more this year. I can honestly say there wasn't really a worst moment cigar wise for me...I mean I could count the mishaps that occurred, but in reality that's small potatoes. The one that got away would be missing the boat on some...well okay quite a few...of the LE stuff. Not too heartbroken about it though...if I want it bad enough, I can always pick up a few here and there. Besides I got enough to keep me occupied for now.

Best: Attending a couple of big and several small herfs with my Brothers and Sisters of the Leaf.

Worst: Missing a large herf due to a family emergency...but it was the only choice to make.

Got away: Wish I would have picked up some of the German Ramon Allones release.

The best was a herf I attended with many of my friends. We were able to make a really good guy wishes come true.

The worst and the one that got away would be the same day. Was schedule to go with friends for a day of cigars and beer at Local brewery and at the last Minute a family issue came up, so had to cancel. Then a few hours later i was informed that the family issue was the next week.

But with all that i had the chance to smoke many good cigars with many great brothers.

Good question for the thread.

Best - 2004 Opus X Forbidden X Toro, finally smoked a cigar that to me was how a cigar should be from start to finish

Worst - Hands down was a Cain Maduro, I took a few puffs off that willy wonka flavored cigar and tossed it.

One That Got Away - Don't feel any of them got away, either I got them or I didn't... there will always be another cigar to get.

The best for me was definetly the Rocky Patel trip to Honduras. I know there are a lot of guys around here that are not big fans of his stuff, but I can assure you the trip is a great educational experience and a chance to truely appreciate the amount of work that goes into any cigar. And the cigars just taste better when you're down there sipping on rum and hangin with the locals. For the price of a plane ticket, you'll have a blast.

Can't say I had any real letdowns though. For me, any time I get a chance to sit down with my fiends and enjoy a stick, it's hard to find something to complain about.

Best: Being invited to Grand Havana Room

Worst: A bad day of cigars is better than a good day in the office.

The one that got away: Padron's Family Reserve 46th release party at Grand Havana Room on the 7th of September

My best experience was Shack Herf as I got to meet many BOTLs there.

My worst experience was smoking the EP Carillo Inaugural...the WORST ever! EVER!

Best: Strife bombing me at the lounge and making me pick out the cigars that I was to be bombed with. Never seen that and now I have a new trick to add to my arsenal.

Worst: Finding a beetle hole in one of my cigars. Inspected every cigar in my humi and thankfully didn't find any others. It was one I got in a bomb, but I don't remember which one (from another board) so I think the little bugger got out before it was sent to me. Hole was under the band so I didn't notice it until I tried smoking it and it had way too easy of a draw.

The One that Got Away: Not being able to get in on a CGR box split from another board because money was way too tight at the time. I'm dying to try one of these.

Quite a room, huh? I've smoked there a number of times. Once with a client that who filled his locker there with Helix's. :wtf:
It's a great place. Might have to make it a point to grab my sponsor and gather the details.

I've heard a number of stories based on initiation and monthly and they won't provide the info without a sponsor.

It's one of those "if you have to ask" situations. I was told $3k initial, and $200/M.

Best: Tie for me. I hate ties, but this is definitely worth tie status. My first IPCPR trade show. It was an amazing experience from beginning to end and I am counting down the days to the next one in Vegas. And having Nestor Miranda, who makes 2 of my favorite smokes, come into the shop here and freak out seeing his Art Deco boxes for the first time. It was awesome!

Worst: Smoking a great cigar at the dunes after I spread my dad's ashes. It was a Romeo Duke and it was awesome and I won't ever forget it. I wanted to smoke something special that day, but it was still the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

Missed: Not sure I missed much, at least not off the top of my head. And it is hard to say I missed it when I didn't experience to know what I missed.

I think it depends on your level of membership, but the prices I know are closer to $25K initial and $2k/mo.
