So this critter flew in the front door last night as we were leaving, so I snapped a (lousy iPhone) pic of it knowing that you would be able to ID it for us!

Kinda looks like a grasshopper, but kinda not!

I caught it and released it back outside.

What say ye?

Yeah, but that's another story :grin:.

So are they harmful/helpful for gardens?
Shouldn't be, they usually inhabit trees. The eat leaves on oaks and a few other trees along with some shrubs.

I tried to find the post with pics of the one I found in my back yard, but couldn't so here it is...



They also come in an incredible pink color...



I have yet to see one in person though, still on the hunt.
