I've come to the realization that my 100 count desktop humidor is a piece of garbage. It doesn't hold a constant RH no matter what I try and the build quality leaves a lot to be desired. So I was wondering what you guys might recommend to replace it.

I know that a tupperdor is an option, but I like the elegance of the real deal. I think a desktop unit would do me well size wise for now, if I out grow it, I'll just build a coolidor.

Thanks!

Try putting some of the "blue" painters tape around the "inside" edge of the lid to create a "snugger" fit for lid. Did this to one of mine and it seals great now. May have to replace the tape after some time as opening and closing lid will wear on the tape after awhile.

Test before you buy. The lid should have a slight resistance, and air should whoosh out, just as it closes. Try putting a dollar bill over the lip with part of it sticking out, shut the lid, then pull the cigar out. There should be resistance. Try moving the cigar and repeat, so that you end up testing the fit around the full perimeter of the box.

Cigar = dollar bill in this case

did you click the link?
Yeah, that's a bit pricey for a humidor that commemorates a less than honorable man.

Thanks for the tips!

after many crappy desk tops, I decided to go for a Daniel Marshall chest. Even in the winter it does not need a lot to keep it going due to the construction.

Best of all, you don't have to pay full price, I didn't. Go to Daniel Marshall Private Sale and see what they have. These have some sort of imperfection somewhere, I have looked mine over plenty and can only come up with one spot that looked like it used to have a slight air bubble (its hardly noticeable) that is toward one of the edges. Other than that it is perfect in every way and I spent well below 1/2 price of retail.

I took a chance, and I can say it is well worth it, the thickness of the wood and the multiple coats of varnish on the burlwood combined with millimeter precision of the construction allows me to honestly recommend this even if the private sale is still expensive...its worth it!

I have a Savoy desktop humidor that I think is great. It looks awesome and they are a fair price. They are made by Ashton and I think the quality is top notch.

If you want something custom for a good price try Ed at Waxing Moon. There is a good thread on cigars.com showing his work. Just search google for it.
