So do any of you guys have a local gun show in your area? If so, are you a member? Or attend a any of the show throughout the year?

I attended my local gunshow today. Before that it had been about a year. It's always fun to go and check out all the crazy and unique things they have for sale there. You just never know what you will come across. It's also a great place to people watch IMO. You get hunters rolling in wearing flanel and camo. Military guys with there tacticool jackets looking like they are ready to go to battle. Old men with their cowboy hats. Crazies that look like they are related to Charlie Manson.

Anyway I had a good time looking around and picked up a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel for my glock 23, a 15rd glock 17 mag. 50rds of .45acp, 50rds of .40 S&W, 100 rds of 9mm and 2 30rd magpul p-mags for my AR15.

I ususally hit alot of the shows. They are all different. Ones that are crap, I won't go back. But the others are sometimes worth driving 3 1/2 hours to.:smokingbo

I've been, but I rarely make it. I tend to buy things when I go to shows, so it's better I don't go, lol.
Thats why I only go to one or two shows a year. I'm like a kid in a toy shop and it cuts into my cigar budget.

That said being able to shoot 9mm at the range will pay off in the long run as .40 S&W ammo is about $5 more a box than 9mm. On the flip side I may be able to afford to go to the range more now. I also learned from the ammo shortage that 9mm is much easier to find than .45 & .40 S&W

You know its funny, I live in Canada and anyone that knows gun laws here would probably be shocked to come across something like this, but, low and behold a local community club holds one nearly every Friday in the summer. I skeptical when I first learned of this, the place isn't that big and the firearms community isn't that large here either, but after having popped in a few times I was surprised by the selection. I guess like any show of this sort you can come across a rarity or two if you look close enough

I am a member of Washington Arms Collectors and I go to the shows in Puyallup every time I am home. Always good deals to be found.

There is one coming up in March out in Valley Forge, just outside PHL, which I am planning on going to. Are prices at these shows generally decent? Or am I likely to do better at a gun shop?

vperlman I'm sure your question was to gunbuyer76 but the one I go to has much better deals on suplies, ammo, mags and parts than I can get at any local store around here. Plus I don't pay tax either.

That said some of the prices I've seen on used guns is laughable. But I've heard guys that have found good deals on used guns as well.

im an old gun whore, i like my rifles made before 1960, i like to barter at the shows, I have some guns with no emotional attachment so i take them for strolls to see what someones willing to part with for them. If you're looking for something new, id skip the shows, if you have a good relationship with your shops then the better deal is there. Inspect everything THOUROUGHLY before you buy i know people take broken stuff to shows to move instead of fixing them. There are usually deals buying off the folks walking guns for sale or trade around the show.

Get to them when I can. My next one is scheduled for Apr 8-10 in Shepardsville KY.

It's a class 3 shoot and I've seen everything from full-auto glocks to a Vulcan Phalanx. The triple mount mini's are really great, especially at night with a full load of tracers. The night shoots are staged with fuel-oil, dynamite and GREAT explosions. You can find the info at

http://www.knobcreekrange.com/machine_gun_shoot.html

They also have a complete gun show with lots of weapons, parts, ammo, lights, knifes and a "rental" area too.

Stay safe, stay armed.

I went for the first time this last weekend. It was quite an experience. The people watching is top notch I must say.

There are not a lot of things sexier than a woman with a gun.

Been to the show at Valley Forge and at Allentown. I like Allentown better, more guns, better prices. VF is too high and has city prices. Cabelas is another place that has a good selection and decent prices.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like Allentown has a show coming up in just under 2 weeks. Think I'll head up there.
