OK, I am going back to Cancun for a long weekend in April. So I plan on stopping by La Casa del Habano. I know that prices there will be higher that said.

What should I smoke there? I have many Cubans so should I just smoke s a few that I know or should I go for something very special? I hear a lot of the Behike but do these need more time to be very good? Or are there any regional or limited editions to look for.

Thanks!

John

Wouldn't you like to know?
Behikes are great, I am in love with the Partagas P1 as well. The new LGC immensos are also pretty good and pretty hard to find. If they have the LGC Cuban regional it is fantastic as well.

I would smoke something that is tough to get elsewhere, rather than anything more "pedestrian". And don't pay any attention to the box codes for singles...they leave the old boxes with the price on them and refill them, so the boxcodes aren't valid.

I thought the humidor conditions were questionable when I was there a couple years ago. The manager was also out of town, and the employee working the humidor didn't know chit about cigars. I smoked a Ramon Allones Phoenecio and had a couple of their Mojitos, which were stellar. At that time, they had a desktop full of Taboada custom rolls, and several full boxes of Phoenicios and Edmundo Dantes 109s....though I am guessing the Phoencios and EDs are long gone.

From what I have heard, the manager there is a fantastic guy, and is VERY helpful, and pleasant to deal with. Heard some good stories about him hanging out, smoking and having drinks with dudes vacationing, and really hooking them up with some good stuff, as well as a good time. I have a feeling that if I went to Cancun on vacation, I would spend 90% of my time smoking and drinking at the LCDH.

I heard exactly the same thing from the director of the resort I was staying at. She gave me his name before I went ( I can't recall it now) and told me to ask for him...unfortunately, he was at the LCdH in Tiajuana when I went to the Cancun store. Hopefully he will be there when John goes there.

It's vacation so price is a non-event in my opinion. Get something you wouldn't normally smoke or wouldn't buy a whole box of. It could be a rare cigar or high end. Hell, it could even be a cigar that doesn't have a big following.

Good advice as well! I am also looking for something that is off the usual picks.

Partagas P1 and LGC Immensos are on my list as well as Behike. I will also be looking for custom rolls as well.

Thanks for the input guys!

Had a bhk 52 last weekend and it was fabulous. They don't need tons of age to be a good smoke.

Here is my advice after visiting two LCdHs in Mexico (not Cancun) last month: You are likely going to see prices that are much higher than vendors list. If you plan on picking up a Behike expect to see prices between $50 and $100 for a SINGLE. Pay attention to box codes. If there is a giant black sticker on the bottom of the box (covering the code) then it is 2010-present. Look for Edmundo Dantes, these are excellent smokes that are becoming more and more rare. There were two boxes in PV when I was there and the price for singles were actually cheaper than what you see on the secondary market.
