An 88? Hopefully they can rate it lower in the future! The worse they rate the sticks I like, the less in demand they will be. The people who know nothing about cigars and only buy whatever CA tells them to buy won't rush to buy the good things we all like. So haha jokes on them...The bloggers that participate on here BOTL blow them away.

It's ok, probably around 88-90 I would I guess. To say they only rate the sticks that advertise in their magazine highest is probably BS as it's done under a blind review system and only 1 guy knows 100% which each stick is. Obviously there are certain sticks that you will know just by looking at what it is, but for the majority I don't think that is true. Just like any other person putting out reviews, it is based on their specific palette which may or may not be similar to yours, etc. Basically I could careless what any reviewers score is for a stick as it's pretty much useless information. The only thing useful from a review is the pictures, size, MSRP, and tobacco break down IMO.

I wasn't impressed the first time I smoked the dirty rat. But after a few, this has been one of my favorite cigars of the year. Unfortunately it did not make my top ten list for 2010, bc I didnt smoke it at the time I made my list, but I'm pretty sure it will make my 2011 list easily!

How some of the cigars on the CA top 25 list made it on there i will always wonder. A.Turrent @ No.14? Monte Platinum @ No.22? Camacho Corojo @ No.5? How any Dominican Monte beat out a Cuban monte is beyond my comprehension.

I have always read about how they only smoke an inch of the stick. I have tried searching for were that was published. Anyone got a link on to what there true tasting procedures are?

Thanks,

Not sure if it's in print anywhere, but I've seen several videos on their website where they've smoked about that much of a cigar and then moved on to the next one. I about had a stroke...

I think it is mostly rumor the 1" thing. I have heard similar but that they smoke the 1st 3rd of a stick as there are only 3-5 guys who do the testing and are smoking 70-90 sticks a month for tasting only. Then because of that rumor the other rumor is that the manufacturers front load their sticks knowing that CA only smokes the 1st 3rd. However the sticks in the running for the top 25, I believe anything that scored 90+ throughout the year all get smoked completely multiple times and all are re-rated.

I'm very surprised CA reviewed the Dirty Rat at all ... haven't they refused to review any other Liga Privada products?

Their score on the T-52 had better be at least a 92 or the very slight shred of respect I had left for them is lost.

And whether it's the first 1" or the first third that they smoke, there is NO excuse for not smoking the entire cigar for a REVIEW. Their explanation of the panel size vs # of cigars smoked is recockulous! Get a bigger friggin' panel, lol! Dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Subjective, the reviews do match what the average cigar smoker out of the loop could find in a cigar shop, minus that twice a year trip to Cuba.

I really don't like this magazine.

My uncle gave me an issue for Christmas. I understand that cigars are a "luxury item", but I feel like this magazine is promoting the "Old Boys Club" of rich white men with nothing better to do with their money than show off how much of it they have.
Well said.

I was highly considering purchasing that $27,000.00 hand crafted travel humidor luggage case thing.
