"I have the Avallo Accumonitor system, and while it has performed flawlessly, the build quality is terrible. It looks like it was cobbled together in someones garage. Of course, you don't notice it much when the humi is full of cigars."

The post above was made on another cigar forum. I replied to it, and figured I would put it on BOTL too. Its just an explanation of how the Accumonitor is made compared to the "Made in China" systems.

"This is RonC from Cigar Solutions, and I would like to comment about the "build quality" of the Avallo Accumonitor.

The Accumonitor is made at the Avallo factory in Nashville, TN. Of all the brands mentioned, it is the only humidifier that is "Made in the USA". Matt from Avallo buys all the plastic cases that house the Accumonitor from another US manufacurer. All the cutting of the cases gets done right at the Avallo shop. Matt does not own any million dollar CNC routers, so cutting does get done by hand. So while the cuts are not as pretty as cuts done in some "Made in China" factory, the ugly cuts are not a negative on its performance.

The Accumonitors engineer lives in Nashville too. So again, you have a designed in the USA product. Matt meets with his engineer in person whenever he feels an improvement might need to be made.

Regarding parts, anyone who has compared an Accumonitor to a "Made in China" system knows that the humidity canister fans are much more powerful than the competitions. The Accumonitor will also power up to 8 fans. This extra capability requires Matt to use more expensive parts. So for about $50 more than one of the larger imported models, you have a system that can humidify a much larger cabinet, and humidify it at a much faster rate.

Regarding construction itself, Matt and 1 other employee make these by hand. They do all the wiring and soldering and assembly. As a result, Matt knows this system inside and out. Troubleshooting for customers is easy. Customization for customers is easy. Even for out of warranty service, Matts knowledge of the parts makes replacements and repairs extremely cheap for his customers. He knows that there are times when just sending a new $20 sensor will fix the problem instead of replacing a whole unit for $200.

Bottom line is there is nobody else out there who engineered, designed, and constructs a "Made in the USA" humidification system. It does not come in a fancy box, it does not have fancy packaging, and it sure aint pretty. But the bottom line is that it is the best system out there, and the price can not be beat."

I did not know that. Your story is very inspiring on more than one level. People doing it all by hand with a great idea for quality and all made in our country. I hope the customer reads this and sees beauty is only skin deep.

When I first got my Accumonitor I have to admit I too was a little upset about the quality for the price point. You may not remember but I shot you an email about it. My main focus was the bottle and the cuts that were made were definitely done by hand because of the unevenness. Having dabbled in Plastics when I was much younger I was wondering at that price point wouldn't one invest in an injection mold and have a nice clean finished product instead of buying generic bottles and cutting them by hand? Keep in mind the most I had spent for a humidifier was under a hundred. When I pay three times that amount I expected Ferrari quality. However after I got over it, installed and used it, I must say it has been the best investment I have ever made. It has performed flawlessly and like Chuck said " I have never felt more secure in how my cigars are being stored."

I have had mine for over 6 years...Never an issue, never a problem that can't be happily fixed by Ron over the phone (excellent customer service), and as Chuck said...Never felt more secure in how my cigars are being stored.

Agreed, I was surprised when the I received the $25 canister and found it to be a water bottle with holes cut in it and a computer fan screwed to the top, let alone a used one...

I ended up ditching the fan anyway for a stronger one.

You won't get a single complaint from me. I've had my Avallo cabinet and accumonitor system for almost 2 years and it has performed flawlessly. Also, if ever I do have questions, or ordering any refills, Ron and or Matt is just a PM away.

Can't beat it, and I won't own any other product!

I have had an Accumonitor sytem for about 10 months or so. I will agree that the plastic bottle hand cuts was a little off-putting. However, and this is a big However, the sytem was easy to install, the design flexible, and the performance great. The system design worked well with the oak icebox I was converting, as you don't really see the equipment. While I think what I bought was around a $150, on price point I remember it compared well to others in the market that I had researched. As far as getting injection moulds to make the product a little more "machined", that's up to the builder I guess.

All in all, thumbs up on the Accumonitor system.

My Accumonitor works flawless!!! I don't have the canisters so I have no idea what people are referring to but I mounted the control box on the wall, and the sensor and forgot about them. I set it and forget it except to fill up the humidifier. I had one issue in the year I have had it and it was fixed faster than I would have imagined. So if people don't like a couple of hand cuts then so be it, it is still the best out on the market!!!

I just received mine today. I can't imagine a more user friendly system. I filled it with water and plugged it in. All done. I'll have cigars in that bad boy in just a few days after th rh levels out.

Have the accumonitor, just added a pound of humidity beads to address 'overhumidification'. Set at 65%, running at 65% and 65 deg.
Priceless
