Hey guys,

Curious to get some thoughts here. I finally bit the bullet and ordered the Davidoff 9 cigar sampler from CCom. Mega-coin, but curiosity got me.

Anyway, it arrived yesterday, and I discovered that the seal on the box had been cut. You know - the official factory sticker they put on to ensure the box isn't opened.

Clearly mine had been cut and probably opened before. Inside the box, everything seems to be ok, but it leaves me wondering if I should be concerned about this?

Cheers,
David

P.S. Gotta say that I was also surprised to find that the elegant looking cigar box interior was made not of Spanish cedar, but...particleboard!! So the inside of the box smelled like cheap assemble-yourself furniture...seriously. Surprising, considering the "luxury" reputation of Davidoff...

I prefer my vendors to open the box to make sure all is well. It saves a lot of time and hassle by ensuring the sticks are in good shape.

Ive found Ccom Customer service to be 2nd to none.
They messed up one of my orders one time, sent me a new batch and told me to keep the stix they sent by mistake to rectify any headache I had.

for the coin you pay for davidoff, i would want a bette rbox too. But you don't smoke the box, and if you like the Kelner profile, then they will still be yummy cigars

Yep, that's the one. Thanks for the advice! I won't worry about the box having been opened then...

An update - I've smoked two of them, the Grand Cru and the No. 2. On both I have to say, not worth $15 each. Not bad, mind you, but I've had cigars I enjoyed far more for a third the cost...Still fun to try them though.

Better I suppose to not enjoy a $15 cigar, as it will certainly save a fair amount of coin over the long haul...

Pre-second band. That picture is very old, at least according to the guy that posted that on vitolas.net.
Right on, always wondered which one it was.

As far as the Davidoffs go, it is not surprising you did not like them, or maybe you were surprised by the musty taste Davidoffs have. They are blended by Henke Kelner, and most of his cigars have this profile to them. The AVO 22 is one of the best cigars I have had in the past 6 months, and it was Kelner through and through. Give them some time, and revisit them, they are a great change up from the norm. Or they will never work for you, in which case post em up for sale.
