Do you avoid smoking in the rain due to the effects of the weather on the cigar?

I guess this question will be answered differently by those who live in climates where rainy weather is common.

What are your thoughts?

I just smoke in the garage. Never had an issue with the humi air messing up the cigar unless you let it sit out for an hour before lighting it.

I haven't had problems from the humidity or anything... I just put an umbrella up over my head so water isn't falling onto the cigar (or me).

A while back a friend of mine had a herf in his garage while it rained and while we were all having a good time the cigars were burning and smoking rather poorly. So for me not that I smoke outside frequently, I do avoid the rainy times.

I smoke in the rain all the time, well, that is on my screened in porch. During the summer months here in SC when humidity is at or near 100% and it's raining smoking on the porch becomes a bit of a challenge. I really have to fight to keep'em going.

But enjoying a smoke while seeing and hearing the rain fall makes it worth it. Nice and peacefull...

I'm OK if I stay on the porch but if I decide to walk around the stick feels wet and won't stay on. It's annoying so I avoid doing it. I don't want to throw away half of a good smoke.

i find the water make up in the rain droplets

tends to have a general negative impact on the smoking characteristics of a cigar.

and if its raining really hard, it will extinguish and make for a difficult relite.

I didn't mean actually standing IN the rain....With drops coming down onto my cigar! (I should have phrased my question better...)

I meant on a covered patio, front porch, garage, etc. where the cigar (and the smoker) are dry, yet the extreme humidity in the air affects the performance and/or taste.

Being from a climate which is rainy more than 180 days of the year, I smoke in the rain all the time. Never had an issue.

I enjoy how the smoke hangs in the air around you.

To elaborate on my previous post, when smoking in the aforementioned conditions the cigar seems well below its peak. The excess dampness/humidity seems to drag the cigar down and I have to puff and puff to keep it going. Mind too that I keep my humi's at 65rh - I would rather have my sticks underhumidified.

In conclusion - my opinion is that smoking outside in a covered space in the rain will reduce the positive attributes one comes to enjoy when smoking "indoors".

I enjoy smoking a cigar when it is raining outside..I have a covered patio so I will sit outside as the moist air seems to make the cigar burn esp. better and as long as the outside temp is no less than 60 degrees it's a better experience IMO.

In the summer the humidity here in MO is pretty high. I often sit on the deck and smoke, haven't really noticed any major problems.
