Ok so I got a nice shipment in today and had a quick question.

The three boxes I have are wrapped very securely in cellophane, air tight. Well at least its on the boxes pretty darn good.

How long would these keep outside of a humidor, or tupper-dor (sp?), without damage to the cigars , and if remained unopened?

Just curious because im seasoning my new big humidor I got too and those boveda packs say wait 10 days, wish I wouldve known that, and really have no where to put them.

most people have an old plastic cooler kicking around from tailgating and pick-nicks. Just grab one of those (make sure it is clean) and put in your boxes and some boveda pack's and you should be good for quite some time, and all it cost ya was a few more boveda packs.

No, came from CI no humidipacs, just shrink wrapped air tight cellophane.

All my boveda humidor seasoning packs are in my new humidor, put 4 of them in there.

I got some beads, a medium 65 rh and a small 65 rh for use in the new humidor.

I mean if its definately needed within the span of 10 days I could probably procure a rubbermaid container but then that would be something else taking up space in my small back room, wifey might not be too happy.

Well I have 1 gallon freezer bags but will only hold one box per bag, I went ahead and put the boxes in the bags.

If its any concelation, im in West Central Georgia and the temp in the house is 70 degrees w/out running the heater because of the unseasonably warm temps we r having and its not getting below 64 during the day for at least the next 5-7 days.

Ill know to be more prepared next time and order some boveda packs for such an instance, but I assumed ( thats what I get for assuming ) that they would come packaged with some sort of humidity control for the trip, but they did not.

As stated this is only for at most 10 days but I dont want to ruin my first big buy which is why I am asking, is it absolutely going to ruin them if I dont have something in the next 10 days,

My purchase was a box of Oliva Serie V Double Robusto, Oliva Serie G Cameroon Double Robusto, and Onyx Reserve Robusto.

You could put a wet sponge inside each plastic bag to provide some humidity.

Wouldn't recommend a wet sponge in a ziplock. Humidity will climb to 80% +.

Dont sweat it, no big deal, just throw them in ziplocks and you will be good to go.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. My fault. I didn't mean to leave it in there. I just meant you can provide some humidity with a wet sponge...I would at least have 1 hygrometer to use to check the humidity in the bags from time to time. If things are a bit low, put a wet sponge in there briefly to bring the humidity up.

Ziplock baggies will hold you over. Better if you can throw some beads in with them, but I wouldn't sweat it too much. Most places ship their sticks somewhat overhumidified to account for loss of humidity in transport, so as long as they haven't been sitting out for long before going into the ziplock bags you should be fine. Just be sure to give them a few weeks in the humidor, once it is ready, to restabilize.

Pa,
You can buy huge ziplock bags (10 to 20 gallon) at walmart or kmart. I have used these for over flow in the past. You can fit several boxes in one bag.
