Okay, so I've looked at the reference guide about Tatuaje cigars and Pete Johnson. Believe it or not, I've not tried one yet. I had an opportunity to select between two recently in a local B&M. The brown label was recommended, however the ring gauge was too small for my taste (I prefer no less than 50-52). There was one red label, but the tobacconist told me that he strongly prefers the brown label, so I waited and bought neither.

Lately, I have enjoyed Oliva V and MB3, My Father, EP Carillo, Illusione 88, Cain Habano, RP Edge Lite, HC Criollo...

Any suggestions based on my aforementioned tastes? I'd love to see what all the buzz is about, and I want to try to pinpoint what I'll enjoy the most. I should also mention that I'm not a big fan of strong peppery notes. I'm looking for smooth and creamy.

Sorry, but you cannot post or even become a member without having smoked a Tat.

:)

Get both, and decide for yourself which one you like.

Remember, though...Always give a cigar at least two separate smokes before deciding yea or nea.

If I have to choose between the two, I would take the brown label every time. If you have to have a massive ring guage, I guess go with the Unicos or the Regios. You could also get one of the Cojonu 2003 or 2006 as they are bigger ring guage as well.

Also, if you like smooth and creamy try the Cabaiguan Guapos line from Tatuaje. About as creamy as it gets.

Thanks! Had the Cabaiguan a few times and enjoyed it quite a bit. It was sold to me as the closest I could get to a CC. I'm undecided as to whether or not that's true.

One of my favorite Tats still is the Havana VI (red label) Artistas torpedo. A very smooth smoke with lots of body. I don't know if I would discride them as creamy, they do have a nice spice profile with some hints of pepper, but are not pepper bombs.

I know you said you prefer larger RGs, but IMO some of my favorite and best tasting Tatuaje blends come in the smaller ring sizes. Try the red label Victorias or the brown label Noellas.

Try ANYTHING with a smaller ring gauge. You'll get a crap load more flavor man.

More wrapper to filler = FLAVOR

Picked up a Tatuaje 7th Reserva (Corona Gorda, 5.625" x 46, I believe). Not planning to smoke it just yet, but wondering if I should have pursued the 7th Natural instead...

Smaller ring gauge cigars offer a lot. Not everything needs to be a 60 rg nub to be a good smoke. There is a reason most ISOM cigars have a smaller ring gauge and why Castro's favorite vitola was the panatela.

The natural to me is just a touch better than the reserva. But then again I am just an asshole.
