As more and more cities try to ban smoking in public places (outdoors, beaches, golf course, parks and even in one's own apartment etc) it is important to stay up legislation on federal, state and local levels.

Would you like to see a section of the board dedicated to Smoker's Rights?

A section where we could post news article links, ballot measures, ridiculous laws and the names of lawmakers trying to take away our rights.

What are your thoughts?

I'd just like to see the CRA get more involved with customers.

As for the board, it can't hurt, but I don't think it "clutters" the wrong sections currently.

as much as I would love for that to happen, the trade embargo is pretty cut and dry... I'm not sure there's a whole lot they can do until it is lifted :-(

I guess it depends where you live. I was just in Florida. They may not understand the importance of something like this. Florida is very smoker friendly. I was amazed.

On the flip side, I played Los Verdes Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and the 1st thing I noticed was a very large sign stating "No Smoking on the Golf Course". In the city of Glendale, CA there is no smoking outside and no smoking in your own home if it is attached to another home, such as a condo or apartment. California leads the way, other states follow. Keep up to date on this stuff or lose your rights. This should be a question as of politians before elections. Don't let your state end up like California.

I think this is a great idea! The way I see it, even if some people do live in "smoker friendly" areas, the majority of us are not so lucky, or are going to get those rights taken away if this road continues. Also, people in "smoker friendly" regions still need to be up on these policies around the country (or world), because if we don't take action there won't be many of these sanctuaries left. I think it's beneficial to look at places like CA so that we can know what they did wrong and we are more likely to stop the spread.

Just my $.02

Absolutely... we need to raise awareness on this issue or our rights are going down the drain.

Our government lets protesters desacrate fallen soldiers' funerals but bans us smoking outdoors???????? George Washington is turning in his grave.

Well, see I am for freedom for everyone. So those vile protesters have the right to spread their hate speech. That is what freedom is all about. But, if they should up at one of my family members funeral I would make sure that got hit hard with paintballs :)

Smoking is another freedom. I played another golf course today that had no smoking signs. I lit up anyway in protest :)

Noticed that too when I played there over the summer after we played. Didn't stop me from smoking a couple sticks though.

I like the idea.

Was this post meant for something else as it makes no sense as it is currently written and doesn't follow this thread at all?

Example post:

Smoker to Pay Penalty of $2K Per Cigar to Anti-Smoke Neighbors

After months of enduring the cigar smoke wafting into his apartment from his elderly neighbor's unit, Upper East Side resident Russell Poses couldn't take it any more. He claims neighbor Harry Lyson had stubbornly refused to give up his cigars, leaving Poses and his wife—who live with their two children on East 79th Street—no choice but to file a $2 million lawsuit against him. But a nasty legal battle came to an end yesterday, and Lyson got off easy with a settlement that will cost him just $2,000 per cigar if the Poses family ever smells smoke.
