Ohhh ya I have seen it.. really want one of them monsters.. Go check you tube, there is a few vid clips of people shoting it and such.. you can also mix load it from what I have seen.. Load a shotgun shell then a 45, then a shotgun, etc...

besides... 410 at close range..... nothing is going to get up from that.

Yeah, I shot one this weekend. A good amount of kick depending on what the grain is of what you have loaded. The 5 slug FMJ has some serious stopping power. The double slug shells have a perfect vertical spread. All in all its a solid gun very accurate for what you shoot.

I see the point of the article, if you are shooting to kill people. All in all a fun gun to shoot with all the different rounds available.

I saw this gun panned on Guns and Ammo TV and they were raving about it for close quarters defense. I too would love to shoot it but the couple of places that I go to shoot which rent handguns do not offer it.

For a fun gun, or for whacking snakes... the gun is fine. But, in terms of self defense - It's all hype and no performance.

Very well put. .410 is very, very, far down on the list of rounds I'd choose to use for self defense.

Would be great for snakes though.

Taurus gets an A+ for the marketing they have done with this firearm!

They targeted a demographic and marketed this to them perfectly. As a few members have already alluded to, the Judge is a gimmick. It would be good as a range toy or for carrying on the ranch to deal with snakes, but that is about it. Even the newer Federal .410 self-defense loads are anemic.

Yep. Their firearms suck though. My first handgun was a Taurus Model 66 revolver and it is the worst firearm I have ever purchased. To make a long story short, I sent the gun back to Taurus.... they said they fixed it... and it wasn't fixed...

I will NEVER buy a Taurus again.

I have had luck with taurus wheelguns over the years, but I would never buy their beretta knockoffs and the only reason i have a milpro 45 is i got it for under $150, that being said the judge is an answer to a question that was asked only a few times, by not smart people, I have friends that have them and like them, but unjless you live on a farm, or are backpacking alot where snakes are prevalent, there is no need, buy a j or k frame 357, and go that route

Glad I came across this thread. I was home last weekend and talking with my dad about my need of home defense weapon. Coming from a guy who keeps a loaded AR-15 (complete with ACOG scope and green laser spotting light) by his bed, he recommended the Taurus Judge. He gave me the impression that the .410 buckshot rounds were devastating when shooting a human about 15 feet away.

It seems like there's some mixed reviews on it's effectiveness. I am going to call some local ranges to see if I'd be able to rent it and shoot it for myself.

My old man (who is, coincidentally, a retired judge) carries one as a snake gun out in West Texas. They're fun as all hell to shoot, but I don't think I'd purchase one for anything other than hiking or plinking. If I'm ever in a situation where I need to use it for defense, I'm gonna want more bullets (or shells, as the case may be).

Yeah, one of the earlier posts linked to a review (http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot41.htm). The guy talked about shooting some clay discs w/ birdshot loaded. Sounds like a lot of fun, but I live in the city and have no place to really shoot much :(

Any gun fanatics in the Charlotte area? We'll have to meet up and shoot and smoke
