8.9 earthquake in Japan/Tsunami

Guys check out CNN if you're still up, huge earthquake just off the coast of Japan and they just had live video of a tsunami basically washing away some area along the shore with a bunch of cars and boats and stuff.

Breaking news obv but lets hope this turns out ok...

man that tsunami looks like bad news. such a densely populated area too, this could make the indonesian one look tiny by comparison...

Guys, there is a very good possibility that not only is my house literally GONE at this point (I live 6 minutes from the east coast of Japan), but that people I know there might even be in danger. So please pray as you're able, thank you.

Thank God is right, but right now I"m just worried about the people there. I know that it's likely that many people are going to loose their lives, but selfishly I'm mostly worried about my friends and my wife's friends and co-workers.

We live in Misawa, about 2-hours north of Sendai (the epicenter), so closer to the quake than Tokyo. How bad the Tsunami will be is really the main issue ... the base is 15 minutes from the coast, our house is 6 minutes.

apparently tsunami warning sirens are sounding in Hawaii at this moment, slated to hit just before 3am there, which I think is 8am eastern

Everyone is preparing here..gas lines are nuts, evacuating the coasts, etc. They also just issued a tsunami warning for the west coast!!!
