8.9 earthquake in Japan/Tsunami

I really hope everyone is alright. I have friends in Japan dealing with the mayhem of the after math and friends in Hawaii awaiting the wave.

I am sitting here in complete shock. I spent three and a half years in Japan (in Misawa) which is very close to the coastline. Even though it's been 20 years I have very fond memories and friends for life in that country. It is just terrible watching it on the news and I am praying hard for thoes wonderfull people I knew, there families , and there people.
Terrible thing to watch happen again and it realy hits home. May God bless thoes that have not survived and help the people of Japan get through this tragity.

Thank God is right, but right now I"m just worried about the people there. I know that it's likely that many people are going to loose their lives, but selfishly I'm mostly worried about my friends and my wife's friends and co-workers.

We live in Misawa, about 2-hours north of Sendai (the epicenter), so closer to the quake than Tokyo. How bad the Tsunami will be is really the main issue ... the base is 15 minutes from the coast, our house is 6 minutes.

That is scary! I immediately thought of you and your family, but knew that you're here in the States. Hope that your friends are safe, and that you have a home to return to.

Surges from the tsunami have hit CA. Nothing but a bit of harbor damage, but a buch of boats have broken loose, and are messing stuff up.. Of course compared to a damaged nuclear power plat, that really does not seem too bad.
