Buying a huge humidor tomorrow. 4x2x6 feet. Typical display cabinet from a cigar shop with sliding glass doors and slotted shelves. Monster has Oasis xl for 70 bucks til midnight. One of these and a few lbs of beads? Is the price good? TIA

I doubt the Oasis will do the job. You have a 48cubic ft cabinet there and I doubt that small humidifier will cut it. There are other humidifiers more geared towards that sized space.

We have the same cabinets in the shop, two of them to be exact, and the Cigar Oasis II XL keeps both of them dead on at 65%.

I believe that $70.00 for the cabinet is a damn good price and I'd personally jump on it for that price!

The cabinet sounds like the same cabinet that Altadis offers to B&M's, which is where we got them for the shop.

Spending a bit more than that for the cabinet, that is the current price for the Oasis right now on cigarmonster. looking at the accumonitor page now and there doesn't seem to be size guidelines for the diff. models...

http://www.cigarsolutions.com/products/Accumonitor-10-20.html

the 10-20 will humidity a 10 - 20 cu ft cabinet.

now I want to add something. we are using two canisters on the model above. each canister on its own has more output than the big Oasis. So with 2 of our canisters, I would estimate the output to be about equal too 4 of the big oasis.

when we estimate the size of a cabinet that a particular model accumonitor will humidify, we judge by how fast your cabinet will get back to the perfect humidity level. using 4 canisters might take 5 minutes. Using 1 of our canisters might take 20 minutes. Using a Oasis might take an hour.

so you could use a 10-20 model to humidify a big cabinet, it will just take twice as long to bring it up to the desired humidity level.

Thanks, Ron. Not going to get the Oasis. Getting the cabinet for a steal so I don't mind spending a bit on a good humidification system.

Wouldn't you like to know?
The other big advantage of going to a better humidification device is control. Large cabinets are difficult to balance if they are full and you are only usuing one source of humidification. If you really fill it up it will be tough to get the air flow you need to balance it out so more sources of humidity make your life a lot easier
