Thanks to another brother, I've started a new hobby that may turn into a small business opportunity for me. I'm making cigar box clocks...I really enjoy picking out a nice box, choosing the right spot on the box, and then putting the clock together. But as I'm driving my wife crazy and running out of room in the garage for more storage of boxes, I had a thought...

What do you consider to be a nice looking cigar box? Personally I like the simplicity, and the beauty of a simple wooden box with a simple design in it like the Oliva Connecticut Reserva box or the Ashton 8-9-8 box...but my wife and others like the Avo Companero box(even if it falls apart)

I'm not asking for people to send me boxes, I have 25 clock movements coming in and already 16 boxes ready to go. I'm asking what you consider a nice looking box. And if you would, please post a picture of this.

thanks for listening, and hope to see some of the beauty of cigar boxes.

The DPG Blue Fundadores box is a nice big square shaped box. Maybe 12"x12"x1.5"?
Any varnished, non-busy, squarish-shaped boxes?
Partagas 150 Don Ramon
Alec Bradley Tempus Lancero
Maybe the Tatuaje monster series boxes? I think silver hands on the Drac box would look nice.

Good luck!

I did one out of a Dirty Rat box, came out pretty neat. Going to do one out of the BOTL Small Batch box as soon as I can find a set of hands that I like.

What kind of clock movements are you using?
It depends on the box, each one needs something different. But mostly I've ordered the Takane made in the USA quartz movements...they have on/off switches and are inexpensive.

I still want to make one out of a atomic clock movement...those are a bit more expensive...and not sure if it'll fit in any normal size boxes...

YEA ribdoc... I do the same thing... A. fuente boxes are great (its fun to switch up the colors of the arms) along with LP boxes. I have a few pics to put in my photo gallery

What about the Verite box, I always thought that it would make an awesome clock or something.

Always thought the CAO Vision box was pretty neat. Had the blue leds inside and I believe on the CAO on the outside. Might make a cool piece for a darker room.
